Taverna O Gios — Restaurant in Peloponnese, Western Greece and the Ionian

Quite honestly some of the worst service I’ve witnessed, let alone the worst on Paxos. We were served bread without oils, butter, tzatziki or even the offer of them.

The stuffed mushroom starter was burned and dry which we were willing to overlook this as we were excited about the seafood platter. The 2 person seafood linguine special was mediocre at its best with little to no seasoning. The prawns were clearly frozen, mushy and bland. No one came to check if we were happy with the food which is a basic in this industry. When we finally got the attention of a waiter to explain that we were not happy with the food he immediately walked to a lady sat at another table. When she came to our table it was clear she was either the owner of manager. She then proceeded to make us feel incredibly uncomfortable about raising a complaint, saying “this has never happened, everyone else was happy with this same food”. She said we would not be charged for the platter but that wasn’t really the point. We hardly eat any of the pasta and would have been happy to order something else but this was even considered. She then went and sat back down with her friends who, clearly having been told about our complaint, proceeded to stare at us both while we were still finishing our drinks and then while we were leaving. As read in previous reviews, this venue, and particularly this lady, needs to get a better understanding of how to deal with a negative response from a customer. I stayed in Paxos for 14 days and tried all the restaurants recommended by locals and reviewers. I have been coming to Greece every year for 27 years, so I think I have an idea about the taste of traditional Greek food, but also about how much this food should cost. Anyway, from the point of view of prices and especially for food, Paxos has really gone crazy, it is over rated and super expensive and all after a banal Netflix series was filmed and is still being filmed here,.. On the model of Skopelos, which 15 years after Mamma Mia, they still making money from the image of that movies. But proces on the Skopelos food, it is half than Paxoi. Returning to the subject, this restaurant is the only one in Paxos that met my expectations, very good, tasty food, reasonable prices, very good service and cleanliness. It will remain my favorite restaurant in Paxos, which I 100%...

If you want delicious, authentic, fresh Greek food, you MUST stop here for dinner. We came here two nights because there was too much on the menu to try. Safanaki prawn and cheese, grilled kalamari, seafood pasta, beef sofrito and even the tzatziki's literally every bite was to die for. Along this was their house made wine, we tried both the rose and white wine and both were amazing and overall really well priced.
