Mikiverna — Restaurant in Polygyros Municipality

I’ve been to this restaurant twice and sadly both times were dissapointing. The only thing I genuinely liked was the atmosphere. The place looks cozy, modern and clean, which creates a pleasant first impression.

Unfortunatly, the food didn’t match the setting. I ordered a veal steak medium-well but got it well-done and way too chewy. The food menu is quite small and the options for soft drinks or non-alcoholic beverages are even fewer. The fried zucchini was overcooked, the garlic sauce had almost no flavour and while the fried feta was decent, everything else we ordered felt average at best.

The service was also underwhelming. No one was rude but the staff seemed untrained and lacked basic customer service skills. Items were forgotten during both visits and no one apologised or took responsibility. On my second visit, I told a waiter I wanted to order something, he said to wait a moment, and never came back. After about 20 minutes a supervisor stepped in to ask if everything is alright and only then did my waiter come and take my order. Also the portion of fried zuchhini balls that i orderd, was forgotten and despite my repeated tries to get my servers attention in the end, after 40 minutes from ordering was told that they are not available anymore.

There was no sign of improvement between the two visits which makes it hard to see these issues as isolated. I wouldn’t reccomend this place to anyone unless serious changes are made in both the kitchen and staff...

There was no table available when we arrived but we decided to wait and it took more than half an hour to finally sit. It was worth it ! Although the staff do their job perfectly, a friendly smile would have been nice. The food - Greek salad was delicious (but I would prefer red onions to regular onions), fish soup very tasty, calamari and fried zucchini also very good. Moussaka was also very good but it would have been nice to have it served in a worm ceramic pot. They offer take away - the portions were too big for us eat it all in. Add two big bottles of still water and a complimentary baklava and the view over the bay… Again, if it’s busy and you are considering finding a different spot … think again, it’s worth the wait.
