We have been travelling through Greece for many years but this is probably the first time we didn't feel welcomed! The food is great, we have been there twice, but the feeling is that the staff is treating people differently depending on their origine. We were told that the tables in the center were booked, and they were not, as we noticed later on. The second time again we were directed toward a small and on the side table, although the restaurant was 90% empty but we insisted, and one guy from the staff came and allow us to seat at the table we had chosen as we were seven, so we really needed a larger one. The food was excelent, that is why we came back the second time, but this time although we asked for the check, the waiter came with the POS, with the amount on it, and that was it! The amount may have been right, but this is not the way to treat the customer. I agree, it was my fault, I should not have paid and should have asked for the bill! But I didn't want to make our guests to feel bad, so I let it pass. But for the first time in my life I didn't left a tip! There is a first time for everything, but I am sad that this happened in Greece, as I really love our...
Read moreIn Greece you can eat well almost anywhere, but Taverna Vasilis in Metamorfosi really stands out. The food here is simply excellent – whether you’re in the mood for freshly grilled fish, home-style cooked dishes, or something from the grill. For meat lovers, the pork steak is among the best you’ll find, huge portions for just €9, enough to easily feed two.
The salads are fresh and delicious, and from time to time the tavern even offers a complimentary dessert, though not always. Prices are very fair for the quality and portion size, and the atmosphere is as authentic and welcoming as it gets in a small village setting.
It can sometimes be difficult to find a table, especially in peak months, but they stay open quite late, even in quieter seasons. Service is fast, friendly, and attentive – some of the staff even speak Bulgarian, which adds a nice touch for visitors from next door.
Overall, Taverna Vasilis is the place to go if you want a memorable meal in Metamorfosi. Highly...
Read moreI read about the good comments and went to Vassilis restaurant. But I haven’t seen the good food and service. We ordered fried Kalamari, fried shrimps, french fries and Greek Salad. All of them are below standard or ordinary. I visited 12 countries in Europe and came to Greece 5 times before, and this is the first time that I have seen the restaurant took extra money from “bread” they served on the table. The money is not important but it’s really rude and a kind of tricky to take money from tourists. I can suggest some extra alternatives to restaurant to take money from customers: Take money from the chair, table, glasses, forks, knives, salt etc from the customers…Metamorfosi is really a small village and the alternatives are so limited. I think because of that the people who made “perfect comments” had no other...
