We ate twice there in June. The good: 1) location, location, location. Right next to the sea, great views across the Pagasetic, lovely sunset 2) the service: they were very fast, even when the place was packed. The bad: The 1st day, we ordered fried fish (κουτσομούρα), which was fresh and very nicely cooked. The 2nd day we opted a big fish for grilling and OMG, what a let down: to speedup the process they had opened up the fish in halves and grilled it very badly, destroyed the fish completely, it came as a burned dry shoe sole (so tip: don't go there if it's busy). And the ugly: We don't know who this grumpy guy is (probably the boss), he goes around always with a cap on his head: he is the most inhospitable taverna owner I've seen, very impolite, not a smile on his face, he clearly doesn't like his job or his guests and doesn't hide it, treats everyone, staff and guests, like they owe him from another life. I watched him angrily shoo away a couple who had reserved a table, telling them that they were 2 and the table was for 4. Pitty, because all the rest of the...
Read moreHad the pleasure of staying in this lovely little traditional greek town in a secluded bay, for four days in June25, for a Wedding. The town is a bit off the veaten track and a wee drive through challenging roads, but the destination is worth it. In the village, Stefanos became our meeting place, our eating place, and importantly our drinking place. This is where the locals go. It may give out a more basic vibe with the furniture and decor, but the warmth and friendliness, and service made you want to stay. It has a great location overlooking the bay, and they serve a simple but fresh menu of lovely traditional food and ice cold drinks And what incredible value ... never been anywhere that offered us so much for so little coinage. Just great value. Thank you all. Great, great staff who went the extra mile. You made...
Read moreEveryone flocks to the tavern because it is the first along the main street by the sea and maybe sitting once would be fine but I would't go there another time. The location is cute and they say they prepare good fish but we didn't have a chace to try it. We sat once and it was ok if you don't mind the typical tiny uncomfortable and broken chairs. The fries were good but cold, the greek salad was tasteless and almost without any olive oil, the bread cold and dry. The second time we went we wanted to try the fish as supposedly it would be their speciality but we waited around 40 minutes and they brought us water after half an hour. Ten minutes later without anyone coming to our table we left. The staff looks tired and overworked. Pitty for the...
