Sunset Cafe Snack Bar — Restaurant in South Pilio Municipality

A very nice beach bar in Lefokastro. The music is pleasant, and the young guys working there are polite and very attentive. We visited four days in a row – had drinks, some food, played cards, spending around €20-25 per person each time, plus tips.

On the fifth day, we came again, ordered coffee and started a casual card game. Shortly after, an older waiter (around 40 years old, heavier build, wearing glasses) approached us and said that even playing cards just for fun is forbidden at the bar, and that he could get into trouble if an inspection happened.

I didn’t quite understand why he said that, especially since playing cards without money is not illegal in Greece, nor why we were bothering him — but we paid and went to another beach.

I checked — there is no law that prohibits recreational games in beach bars. We’ve been spending summers across Greece for years, and have never encountered such nonsense. Replace that one waiter — everything else was excellent.

Answer: Thank you for your reply. I respectfully disagree with your version of events. No one ever asked us not to play cards on any previous day — in fact, we were treated kindly by the younger staff, and there was never a comment or concern raised.

During our stay, we consistently ordered food or drinks. The table was never empty; we were careful to be respectful guests and make sure we were always ordering something.

Also, during all our visits, the bar was half-empty, so we were not taking anyone’s place or causing any disruption.

It’s disappointing to see that instead of acknowledging a possible misunderstanding, you chose a dismissive and sarcastic tone. That kind of response speaks louder than the original incident.

Right in front of a kid friendly beach. Very nice coffee, very friendly stuff, food more than good enough to pass the whole day here with the kids and parking for the customers. I am coming here every summer that I visit...
