Traditional bakery I. Drositis — Restaurant in South Pilio Municipality

Well, it looks better than it is. A major part of sweet stuff is from wholesale and not from this bakery (you will simply notice that it is packed in plastic with a best before date of days-weeks and the information that it was manufactured in Volos). Some salty stuff like Tiropita or the spinach-filled puff pastry is OK, but not fresh and not as good as for example in the bakery in Volos. The bread is not bad - but also not special. Most tourists seem to love the place, I'm always surprised how important the marketing is and how low the discernment and the taste of most people...

The smell from this beautiful bakery just lured you down the cobbled road towards its entrance and the waft of freshly baked bread was like an aphrodisiac when you walked in. We caught the lunchtime batch and drove back to Chorto and it was still warm when we cut into the loaf for an afternoon snack.
