We are staying right next to Batis and in the second night we decided to eat there…. Reviews were ok, it was right next to us, it has a small playground for the kids….. so why not. We ordered some wine, we were in a really good mood, thinking we are so lucky with the location…. Then the food started to come. I ordered grilled octopus….. 14 euro for one small tentacle, like a hot dog , I took a photo after taking a bite…. It was embarassing… I called the waiter to our table to ask… is this it…. Like a starter? With a very plain face he answered “yes” and he left. We ordered chicken schnitzel for the kids…. That was not chicken meat… is was like a mouse of chicken very odd taste. Luckily with my fathers Dizzy Chicken which was a big portion and we all eat from his plate. The waiters are all with a very straight face, no smiles….. it makes you feel unwanted in the place and uncomfortable. People will still come here as it is almost the only place arround were you can eat and it also has the play ground which is a magnet for the parents that want some chill time, but this is not what Greece has to offer. We come to Greece for 19 years, different locations, 4 times in Thassos, and this is in our top 3 worse places to eat from what we encounter in our trips. I am sure they will comment on this very mean as they did for others which were not happy with the place, but please, make some effort and go and try other places with amazing food and waiters with a smile on their face… it will make your trip so much better then this...
Read moreVery good food. Excellent service. Interesting house wine. Regular prices. Friendly and helpful manager. Clean. Shady setting under several pine trees. Highly recommending this place for a good greek fish/squid/mussels/shrimps/vegetables meal with a limited time budget. DO ask how large a plate comes with "shrimp pasta". Apart from being delicious, with the added stripes of red peppers, zucchini and eggplants, wonderfully prepared and half cleared shrimps, it fills you before you know, leaving no place for the delicacies to follow. Music (bouzouki) and ouzo (greek anis liqueur) on Wednesdays evening, make reservation beforehand. Eat to live or live to eat? You'll have to find the answer for...
Read moreAs Greek I found it with mediocre quality and small portions for the prices. Also, was super annoying when they charge you 1 euro for 2 slices of bread and they don’t bring you even water. If the tourists they don’t like the Greek way of serving food, would be better the waiter ask if you are Greek or foreigner and then to serve you respectively. If they continue with this way, don’t be expect from Greeks come back again. PS The complimentary watermelon at the end after paying 100€, was for 1 person not...
