Save yourself some research since you will not find a better restaurant in the area. We were so excited to try this restaurant and after going there once I had to go multiple times with the purpose of trying EVERY dish possible! I did not manage to try completely everything but I did manage to try the most and to my incredible surprise not even a single meal disappointed me. Sure, some were better than others but that comes purely to personal taste preferences. The chef in there must be an expert, it is remarkable how much detail is being put into every dish, incredible taste combinations that I wouldn't have thought of myself (got some new cooking ideas for myself, thanks 🙏).
MUST TRY DISHES (my personal favorites):
Salads: Ntakos (best in the area) Bulgur salad (extremely fresh, goes perfect with fish dishes and on warm days) Beetroot salad (had no idea that apple matched beetroots so damn well) Green salad (it looks just like a simple green salad but when it comes to taste I have no idea how it is so incredibly good and fresh)
Meats Kleftiko lamb (best I have personally tried, even though I always preferred goat meat it made me rethink on if lamb is actually better) Chicken schnitzel (even though not a fan of fried food, this one is uniquely juicy) Chicken fillet (not the best I have eaten in my life but definitely number 2, much better than any other in the area)
Fish Sardines (simple but the best in the area in my opinion) Octopus (kind of small portion but insane taste and quality) Mussels (they really know how to cook them)
Of course there are many more things you can try there and as I said it all comes to personal preferences. For instance a friend of mine liked the kontosouvli, but to me it was not as good, especially if you compare with the rest remarkable dishes! Nevertheless it might sound that I promote this place or something but this is my true opinion based on my experience eating there many times...
Read moreDiscovered Meltemi Sea Side Tavern last year, our first time in Nea Vrasna, when we only had dinner once and had a great time, so we decided to surely return. This year, having the accommodation just a minute behind the tavern, it has become kind of our "base camp" for the vacation, both for the days spent on the beach (they manage the beach right in front of the tavern) but also for a good amount of dinners. The quality of the food is excellent, be it the sandwiches and snacks served on the beach or the hearty traditional Greek dishes served in the tavern. The consistency is also great, the ingredients tasting the same every time and always knowing what to expect. The kitchen is open inside the tavern, which is always a good indicator of a restaurant that works in a clean manner and has nothing to hide. The service is flawless. From the smiles of the nice staff to the overall attentiveness, we always felt taken care of and our needs met. This year we actually recognized staff members from last year, which generally means two things - it is a good employer (happy staff - happy customers) and the staff know what they're doing and function as a well-oiled machine. The prices of the tavern are very decent for the quality served and on par with similar establishments in the area. The prices of the products served on the beach are slightly higher, however you don't pay any fee for sunbeds and umbrella, so that makes is also very decent when all things considered. Over-all it's a very good price-quality ratio, probably the best in the area. It is a great place to spend a relaxing day at the beach or to have a taste of excellent traditional Greek cuisine. Definitely a tavern that deserves a place in the "return to" list of anyone vacationing in Nea Vrasna and surrounding! We will happily return when we're next time...
Read moreWe were a family of 4 people:
We didn’t have to wait at all for a table to become available, but let’s keep in mind that there were quite a lot of people. A WONDERFUL thing that impressed me was that the waitress asked us where we were from and what language we spoke. After we told her we were from the Republic of Moldova, the waitress offered us a MENU IN ROMANIAN. I also saw menus in other languages, such as RUSSIAN, ENGLISH, etc., WHICH IS AN INCREDIBLY convenient and welcoming thing and also i would like to say that the place is surely perfect, near the sea and also near the city center.
Let me tell you right away that the prices are very affordable, considering the large portions they serve and also the incredible taste of traditional Greek food (we ordered one portion of pork gyros, two portions of chicken gyros, and one portion of traditional Greek skewers). From one portion, two adults can easily eat.
The staff is very helpful, kind, and friendly. They are always ready to assist you if you need something, and not only that— they ALWAYS have a smile on their faces and are eager to help.
At the end, after we enjoyed an incredibly tasty and filling dinner (we took what we didn’t eat to-go, as I mentioned, the portions are BIG— which is a very good thing), the waitress asked us if we would like some ICE CREAM. Of course, we said yes! SHE OFFERED US ALL FREE ICE CREAM AS A SMALL GIFT from the house. That made all of us smile, and for sure, we will come back to taste other...
