Vikos view — Restaurant in Zagori Municipality

Vikos View Hotel wasn’t the right choice for us. We found it online and trusted the positive reviews. On a long road trip, we were hoping for comfortable rooms and a convenient location for exploring the area. We initially booked for 3 nights but we stayed only one, and our communication with Christos before arrival was very pleasant—he seemed genuinely helpful.

We arrived in the late afternoon and were given a small room right next to the entrance. The reception, breakfast area, and garden were directly in front of our room, meaning every noise was easily heard. The room’s two windows faced the garden, so we had to keep them closed for privacy, which was especially uncomfortable given the 38-degree heat. There was no air conditioning or fan in the room, but thankfully, they provided a small fan when we requested one. The room also faced the sunrise, and the curtains didn’t fully block the light, which made sleeping difficult.

Upon our arrival, I called Christos to express my disappointment with the room. He explained that everything else was booked but I would expect to share this info before we made the booking. Few hours later, he informed us that we could switch rooms the next day. While we appreciated the late offer, we decided not to stay and try to find a value for money solution - even if we had to search while travelling.

To us this basic accommodation is overpriced for what it offers.

A perfect place to stay after having done the beautiful hike from Monodendri through the gorge. Katherine is a very enthusiastic and welcoming host, she really makes you feel at ease. We had dinner there, I liked the pastitio, a Greek traditional dish. The view is lovely, the rooms are good. The breakfast is extensive and varied, with fresh eggs, prepared on the spot according to how you like them. Last but not least, try the ice cream, it's delicious! (And we have been to Italy several times and are quite picky about ice creams ;-)

Επισκέφθηκαμε τον ξενώνα την περίοδο των διακοπών των Χριστουγέννων. Κράτηση της τελευταίας στιγμής, δύσκολα εύρισκες δωμάτιο. Οι φωτογραφίες δεν με ενθουσίασαν Αλλά φαινόταν περιποιημένο. Ο σύζυγος μου είχε ξεχάσει το μπουφάν του (χώρις μπουφάν στο βουνό!) Όταν φτάσαμε,μας υποδέχτηκε χαμογελαστός ο ιδιοκτήτης και τον παρακαλέσαμε αν υπήρχε δυνατότητα να μας δανείσει ένα μπουφάν, χωρίς δεύτερη σκέψη μας πρόσφερε το δικό του! Ανεβαίνοντας στο δωμάτιο, νιώσαμε πολυ όμορφα, ζεστή ατμόσφαιρα, πεντακάθαρο μοντέρνο,με υπέροχη θέα και κεράσματα! Το επόμενο πρωί κατεβήκαμε για πρωινό,εγώ μάλιστα καθυστερήσα , όμως η Κατερίνα με υποδέχτηκε με χαμόγελο και με ρώτησε αν ήθελα ομελέτα καφέ η τσάι. Έφαγα την πιο νόστιμη ομελέτα και ήπια ένα εξαιρετικό τσάι από τοπικά βότανα! Μετά με ρώτησε αν ήθελα και σουπιτσα τραχανά! Την επόμενη μέρα, έφτιαξε ξανά σουπιτσα, ειδικά για μένα, γιατί μέχρι να κατέβω είχε τελειώσει. Πριν φύγουμε μας πρότεινε να καλέσουμε τον ιδιοκτήτη για να μας δώσει συμβουλές για τις βόλτες μας!Σε δύο μέρες είδαμε, όσα δεν θα βλέπαμε μόνοι μας ούτε σε μία εβδομάδα! Τον καλούσαμε κάθε μέρα τρεις -τεσερεις φορές και πάντα μας έδινε οδηγίες με ευγένεια και πραγματικό νοιάξιμο. Ο ξενώνας είναι μικρός,δεν έχει εντυπωσιακό σαλόνι και τζάκι,δεν έχει εύκολη πρόσβαση για Αμεα (είναι νοικιασμένος,κι αυτά δεν είχαν προβλεφθεί όταν κατασκευάστηκε) όμως είμαι σίγουρη ότι στην πορεία θα γίνουν βελτιώσεις..Για όσο μείναμε, νιώσαμε ότι μας φιλοξενούσαν αγαπημένοι φίλοι,που πραγματικά χαίρονταν που μας έβλεπαν και ήθελαν να περάσουμε όμορφα! Ξέχασα να πω ότι είχα κάνει κράτηση για δύο δωμάτια αλλά οι φίλοι μας δεν κατάφεραν να έρθουν,προσφέρθηκαν να μας επιστρέψουν τα μισά χρήματα της προκαταβολής!
