Gallery Bistro Carriacou — Restaurant in Carriacou

As first time visitors to Carriacou, we must have been in a parallel universe to the others who have written reviews of The Gallery Bistro. We walked in, in mid afternoon May 2025 to receive “can I help you?”. Not in a pleasant wishing to help tone, more like the tone you would use for a stranger who had just walked uninvited into your home, as opposed to potential paying customers who had just walked in to your business. We had walked across the covered outside terrace past 3 seated people and a person standing talking. It was the person standing who spoke to us. Bearing in mind the name of the business is The ‘Gallery’ Bistro, we thought to look at the gallery of local arts and crafts (as advertised on Google) before looking at the menu. We were told that they had a couple of pictures hanging but were not a gallery. With an abrupt “we’re not a gallery we’re a restaurant” we turned around and walked away. Our group ordered a spread of papadams (comes with several chutnies) and curries (comes with rice and naan) and everything was excellent. As good as any curry I’ve found in the US or UK, which is a surprise in Carriacou of all places. A really welcome change of pace from the typical Caribbean fare, even when compared to the French islands. The ambiance both on the patio and inside is charming with a large and well curated book exchange and some neat local crafts for sale. This is my absolute favorite restaurant in Carriacou. The food is always fantastic and no matter what I order I am always delighted with my meal! The restaurant is very cosy with a lovely ambience. Anne and John, they were absolutely fantastic. They know what they are doing. During our stay in Carriacou (4 months) my boyfriend and I were always coming at least twice per week to Gallery Bistro. After a long day working in the shipyard there was nothing better than coming to this place to chill and enjoy a light atmosphere. I would like to come back here again...
