Gecco Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Kaposvári járás

I'm originally from Kaposvár but left the city almost 20 years ago. Since I ever come back I come to this restaurant and I've travelled all over the world, and seen many different Mexican restaurants and had many Mexican friends who showed me what is Mexican. I'm not saying that Gecco is totally authentic - at least to my experience - but nevertheless it is really great and the only place that I found during my trips where they make home made nachos. I visited it yesterday and ordered food to take away. It took an hour and twenty minutes while tables that order 20 or 30 minutes after me had not only been served their food but had finished eating!! As far as the food goes, the menu contains the stereotypical Mexican dishes so I wasn’t expecting anything too special. I was disappointed when I saw the salsa is the usual from a jar rather than freshly made. That is an immediate indication that there is no passion for the food of Mexico. The dishes were ok, I have had worse but they were a very long way from being close...

The food was fairly good. As a Canadian Hungarian, I have to say that I am comparing to more authentic Mexican meals that I have had many times in Canada and Mexico. The service was impeccable, the meal presentation quality and quantity is up to par. The taste was a bit off. Not to say it was bad but in comparison it was 7/10. We would possibly come back just to get our dose of Mexican food, but with so many other restaurants to pick from, who knows.
