In my humble opinion this is one of the BEST restaurants currently in Hungary. GREAT respect to them. Why?
I have visited them on the 29th of September, 2021. The appetizers were amazing 10/10. The fish soups (as main dishes) were almost amazing. Rich, high quality fish, amazing taste, but a tiny bit too much salty feeling. 20 percent less salt and 10 percent (even) more taste will make these soups PERFECT. Serving the foods was slow. But there is an echelon of quality where this (lack of) speed is perfectly acceptable. And this restaurant is able to provide the level and quality where it is ok to relax instead of hurrying. View is very nice, near Tisza, with large glass windows. Feeling is good. 5, The bread, the hot paprika are HIGH quality, fresh, good. There is traditional music which is high quality and well provided, serves as perfect and authentic background music. It is very rare to hear ARTISTS provide live music in restaurants. My respect to the musicians and to the restaurant for having this quality. I have been to a number of Michelin star restaurants not even coming near this quality.
My recommendation: Try this restaurant and they will provide price to value which is basically unbeatable. My recommendation to the restaurant: keep up the AMAZING work and make the fish soup a tiny bit EVEN better, even more sophisticated in taste. All in all this restaurant is AMAZING and they have...
Read moreAte catfish made fish soup of Szeged style. I haven't been to other traditional restaurants in Szeged but this place surely earns a special place here because the fish soup with only plain bread is a real Hungarian specialty so if you would like to taste it you should come here. This is way off city centre, 30min on foot so a car or local bus is recommended but the food is worth it. The Hungarian quark noodle with bacon was also quite delicious and the pancake too. The staff was very effective and quite friendly, a bit oldschool but in a good way. For fish-non-eaters there is a great selection as well and portions were generous too. All in all one of my best restaurant experiences. One addendum: in the toilet you can find phone number for the case when you accidentally close yourself in. These details show a kind thoughtfulness...
Read moreI heard a lot of big words about this place and gave it a shot. My wife and I ordered the fish tartar as starter and received some kind of fish cream mashed with paprika pasta along with vegetables, butter and toast bread. It was not bad but not what we expected (maybe a hungarian recipe?). The second thing we ordered was the mixed fish soup and this was disappointing. The portion is huge but with a lot of fish grease and it's hard to enjoy all that . The overall experience was nice but we expected more since we got only excelent reviews. Bonus: the location, right on the side of the Tisa river & the excellent service from the waiters. They were very helpful and also knew the...
