We stopped at Valeria Kaffi not once, but twice during our stay nearby! The owner was extremely knowledgeable and welcoming. He offered us a seat in the downstairs area. We absolutely adored the downstairs of his coffee shop. It was so cozy and relaxing. This easily became one of our favorite mornings in Iceland out of our 17 day trip.
The first day we stopped at Valeria, I had a pour over that was phenomenal. I have been drinking pour over for years now and this was one of my favorites by far. The fruity notes from his own personally roasted coffee is one of the best I’ve had. My wife got the hot chocolate made from cacao and it was awesome. On the second day we went to Valeria, we both had espresso based drinks (cappuccino and mocha). Best espresso in Iceland (no bitterness and very smooth)! The owner let me try out his manual espresso shot while we were there of which was also extremely tasty.
Highly recommend this place! The owner roasts his own beans that he gets from his brother's coffee bean farm in Colombia. I bought a bag of beans from his shop and I have been enjoying it at home. Favorite coffee in...
Read moreA very very special cafe. You’ll know it when you walk in. Super hospitable couple with fantastic decor and the vibes are just perfect. The coffee is to die for. Amazing flavor and notes of pure single origin Colombian beans. Buy a bag and treat yourself if you like good coffee. I wish I bought more. Thank you to the kind owners for such a fine establishment in one of the most special parts of our planet. Grundarfjorder is incredible. To meet a Colombian, roasting and brewing some of the best coffee on this God’s Green Earth is some kind of blessing. As a Spanish speaking Nepalese, I had the best time at this place. Very friendly owner who indulged me in practicing my Spanish. ¡Muchísima gracias!
Unos de los mejores cafés que he visitado. Me da alegría que un hombre Colombiano (muy muy amable) y su esposa (de íslandia) ha establecido un café muy especial en una esquina más especial en...
Read moreFrom the outside you see a black building, but once you're inside, it's so very welcoming and cosy. The owner is a Colombian man who knows his business, hence the delicious coffee and... he just loves his niece Valeria. You can see he's just crazy about her and I can totally imagine her being his princesa.
Downstairs used to be a home for sheep, but in it's current state it's unrecognizable. Multiple colorful rooms, with many room to enjoy your coffee. Love how they even provided period products in the toilet, like sanitary napkins and tampons. Good eye for detail.
We recommend this place, because the coffee tastes good, the owner is easy to talk to (although he can look like a though man) and you just leave happy.
P.s. Thanks for the recommendation in Vik, Skool Beans. Original schoolbus venue with grumpy cat. They are indeed very welcoming...
