If you're a seafood lover looking for an authentic local Goan dining experience, Mahesh Bar and Restaurant should be on your list! Nestled in the heart of Ramnathi, Bandoda, Goa 403401, this iconic spot combines simplicity with rich, flavorful cuisine that speaks volumes.
Ambience 🌴✨ The atmosphere is laid-back and welcoming, reflecting the essence of a classic Goan Tavern. Wooden interiors, warm dim lighting, and a buzz of lively conversations make it a perfect spot for both casual family dinners and catching up with friends over drinks.
Food 🐟🍛 The star of the show is, undoubtedly, their seafood. I tried their Rava fried Prawns, Rava fried kingfish, Rava fried Chonak, Rava fried Mussels, Rava fried Vellyo and all were nothing short of spectacular. The prawns were perfectly cooked while the other fishes had a crisp, golden crust and a melt-in-your-mouth texture.
Their Fish Thali is average as per me —an assortment of local flavors served with rice, curry, fried fish, and salad that give you a true taste of Goan coastal cuisine.
For those who prefer non-seafood options, the Chicken Xacuti is a flavor bomb with its rich coconut and spice blend.
And the star of the show in Chicken Category : Goan Chilly chicken. Absolutely delicious.
Drinks 🍹 Their bar menu is extensive, offering everything from classic whiskeys to local feni-based concoctions.
Service 😊 The staff is friendly and attentive, always ready to offer recommendations or tweak dishes to your preference. Service is prompt despite the popularity of the place.
Price 💸 Considering the quality and quantity, Mahesh Bar and Restaurant offers excellent value for money. Expect to spend around ₹800-₹1,200 for two, including drinks.
Final Verdict ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Mahesh Bar and Restaurant offers an authentic Goan dining experience with lip-smacking seafood, a cozy atmosphere, and great service. It's a place that celebrates local Goan tavern flavors in every bite. Highly recommended for locals and tourists alike!

Read moreSo we visited this place with friends (stag) and were curious about their chicken chilly , We visited this place at 11:45 am and by the time we ordered the place was full , we got the best sits opposite the road this is the only place that is airy and a bit upgraded If you are with family or woman friends choose this table or wait for it (my advice)
The 4star are for the food the fresh fish The place ambiance is 3 ⭐ The service is ok -there was a bell switch near out table and they take digital pay
So we a group of friends visited this place it's surrounded by 3 of the renowned temples in Goa and it's great to end your journey with some delicious Goan chilly (hindu version) and some fish thali
All the fish was fresh and the wait staff was more then helpful to show you the fish
At the end we took 6 chicken chilly for our friends back home as this place is renowned for it (Note : The chicken chilly gets its great taste as they use lots of sauted onions and their garam masala is fresh and they use fresh green chillies for the heat , quite simple but perfected tru the years )
The fish is either fried in rawa fry or slight masala fry there is no rechado (Portuguese influence food here )
The was fresh promfret, kingfish, chonok , lepo (the flaunder variety ) , prawns and river tilapia (kalaundra)
The thing is kalaundra being very oily need the Goan Rechado masala and rock salt but was not available as their cooking style is the Hindu version which is awesome as the fish thali (uman)( curry) rocks 😎
Lots of people were taking parcels orders
There are IMFL liquors like black dog, black and white,100 piper's 8,10,12 years the do serve in bottles for groups and the price is good
It's better to make plans to visit the surrounding temples and a church and enjoy this restaurant too . Price :$$$-$$$$...
Read moreI recently visited Mahesh Bar and Restaurant, and I have to say that the Sadus Chilli Chicken I had there is hands down the best chilli chicken I’ve ever eaten. From the very first bite, I could tell the dish was freshly made, with tender and succulent chicken that just melted in my mouth. The onions were caramelized to absolute perfection, adding a sweet depth to the dish that paired beautifully with the heat from the chillies. Speaking of the chillies, they were blended so well that the spice hit just the right note without overpowering the other flavors. The balance of textures and flavors in the dish was simply outstanding.
One thing that really impressed me was that despite the high quality, the chilli chicken was reasonably priced, especially compared to other places that tend to overcharge for dishes like this. For example, I found it much better in both taste and value than the cafreal I had at Khopp Inn, which was overpriced and underwhelming. Mahesh Bar and Restaurant, on the other hand, provided a much better dining experience overall.
While the place is a bar, which might not appeal to everyone, it didn’t take away from the great food and service. The ambiance was comfortable, but for those who may not enjoy being around alcohol, delivery is a great option as well. The food would be just as enjoyable in the comfort of your home. In my opinion, this is the best place in Goa for chilli chicken lovers, and I highly recommend giving it a try if you’re looking for a flavorful, well-prepared meal that won’t...
