I never thought I had to write this review being a patron and a long term customer and a proud bengali admirer of the restaurant. But when it comes to the self respect of a customer I guess it needs to be mentioned.

A fellow customer sitting next to me had ordered Chilly Paneer. Customer was served Chicken chilly. Now this is not only a grave mistake it amounts to the level of spoling of one's traditional ritual and sin for many vegetarians. thankfully the customer was not a pure veg guy and hence he didn't make it a big deal. Service guy came, didn't even bother to apologize and just smiled and shown as if he understands the issue. Now I being the customer sitting next raised this issue and asked the service personnel why this is happening when customer himself saying this is the second time it has happened. The result : service personnel shouted on me saying this doesn't involve you, your food is fine so shut up and sit. This is the level of respect a regular customer like me gets on raising a genuine concern which can be communal which can be very serious at times. Kolkataz has a very wide customer base ranging from students to youngsters to office corporate and so on yet the service quality is absolutely pathetic and reluctant. While writing this review m damn sure manager, management and owner doesn't know even an iota of this incident and they are always in darkness.yes staff was right the incident doesn't involve me and my food was ok but that doesn't mean service staff will shout and insult a customer in front of a hotell full of customers and gets away just like that. A restaurant catering to a corporate staff nearby bagmane should have staff who has basic common sense and understanding about staff behavior in public.
It's an irony however that even after facing such insult and humiliation today I will be again goin tonight for dinner at the same restaurant the reason being no other option nearby. But this helplessness of customer and dependency on a single restaurant should not be the basis of business at all. Only good food is not enough in 2025.experience matters and the experience is definitely not something today to be happy about. Not sure if anyone from the management would see this review and check for a reflection and the issues in ground reality but m hopeful they can improve.
Regards and thanks A long term...
Read moreOne of the best biryani in Bangalore and he best kolkata chicken biryani hands down. Came to know about this small place while scrolling on zomato. The place is not very appealing but they maintain the hygiene and the service is quick. They got a small seating space and the table turn over is fast as the place is usually busy. I went for dinner and had the chicken kosha and paratha first and it was delicious. The kosha was so good. I wish they had luchi too. But the chicken biryani was just amazing. So flavourful and tasty, had a good amount of masala unlike other bland biryanis. Had the biryani again after a month and still the taste is same, enjoyed it. The portion sizes are quite good and pricing is very reasonable. Must try.

Read morePleasantly surprised at the simple, but superb food served here at Kolkataz. No wonder this place is always crowded, mostly during lunch hours. Service is quick & friendly, even more if you speak Bengali.
I ordered a vegetarian Thali, which was simple, down to earth & had great flavours. I could taste the flavours of the vegetables as against any overpowering masala. The dal could have been slightly better & thicker, but at this price point, & portion size, you hardly notice that as a complaint.
I couldn’t help notice the Kolkatta style Biriyani that was in every other table & the Banana leaf wrapped, mustard paste overloaded, steamed bhetki. Too curious, promised myself to come back here soon & try the non-vegetarian specialties.
Overall from what I had for lunch, an excellent Bengali place, coming back for the...
