The Lake City Socialite (Thus Urban Socialite) — Restaurant in Bhopal

We recently dined at The Lake City Socialite, and while the ambiance initially seemed peaceful, we quickly realized why the place was so quiet—it was far from welcoming. The staff made us feel extremely uncomfortable, especially as women dining there. From the start, the waiters displayed unsettling behavior. Several staff members were constantly staring, particularly at my legs, making me feel unsafe and uneasy. They hovered around our table, watching our every move, which was incredibly intrusive. To make matters worse, we were scammed on the bill. We were charged twice because, according to the staff, half of our payment had been mistakenly added to another table's bill. This felt like a deliberate attempt to overcharge us. The most disturbing part came when we were leaving. A waiter followed me, and I caught him staring at my legs in the mirror as we entered the elevator. This was beyond inappropriate and made the entire experience feel threatening. We had gone to enjoy the fantastic Lakeview that this restaurant offers. However, the restaurant itself is a reminder of bygone era when its grandeur must have been at its peak. The ambience gives old vibes and renovation is absolutely required. The window panes are unclean which hampers clear Lakeview. The designated smoking area in the open on the other hand offers beautiful clear view with comfortable sitting area.

Coming to the food part, all dishes we ordered were very tasty. We ordered Sangam-e-Kebab (₹650) which is a scrumptious platter of assorted tandoori vegetable kebabs. Veg Chopsey (₹350) we ordered was also very good. We also went for Paneer Pakoda which was good. For beverages, we went for hot coffee (₹120) and Coke (₹60) for 250 ml bottle.

We enjoyed the food thoroughly. I recommend you to visit this restaurant only for the food and some spectacular Lakeview which you will get in the open smoking area. If you want to sit indoors in AC then there are better places...

The view of the upper lake from THUS is just fabulous. That is why I am rating this place a 4 star. The food is decent enough. I would give a 3 out of 5 to the quality of food served. At times they don't have items that are listed on the menu. The servers tend to be a bit lost and when asked to explain a particular dish, they are unable to do so. When it comes to pricing of the items in the menu, I believe they could have been priced at least 20% lower. But again the view from the restaurant is awesome and you don't mind paying that extra premium.

I specifically like the Broccoli and Peas Soup that they serve. They are not consistent with the taste. At times you get super quality and taste and at times it feels that the chef was not at all interested to make your dish.

If you want the entire restaurant to yourself, I would suggest go for an early dinner. Best time would be just before twilight when you can enjoy the view before and...
