A Disappointing Breakfast Experience My recent visit to Gobindam Restaurant left me with mixed feelings and a sense of disappointment. Located in the heart of the city, I was intrigued to try their menu, particularly their podi idli, a dish I had heard about but never tasted before.Upon arrival, the ambiance was pleasant, with a cozy interior that seemed inviting for a breakfast outing.
However, my enthusiasm quickly turned into confusion when I couldn't find a description of the podi idli on the menu. Not wanting to miss out on what could potentially be a unique dish, I decided to order it anyway, hoping for the best. When the dish arrived, it became evident that my expectations didn't align with the reality on the plate.
The podi idli, while freshly prepared, was quite different from what I had imagined based on my previous experiences with similar dishes. It lacked the traditional flavors and seemed to be prepared with a variation that wasn't clearly communicated on the menu.
Hesitant but determined to share my feedback politely, I approached the staff to inquire about the dish's preparation and expressed my disappointment in its deviation from traditional expectations. Unfortunately, instead of addressing my concerns empathetically, I felt pressured to accept the bill and settle the payment promptly, which left me feeling unheard and dissatisfied with the overall experience. In hindsight, I wish there had been clearer communication about the podi idli's unique preparation style on the menu, as it would have managed my expectations better. Despite the disappointment, the restaurant's ambiance and service were decent, albeit overshadowed by the lack of transparency regarding their menu offerings.Overall, my visit to Gobindam Restaurant was marked by a missed opportunity to enjoy a traditional favorite in a new light.
I hope that in the future, they consider providing more detailed descriptions of their dishes to enhance customer satisfaction and ensure a more enjoyable dining experience for...
Read moreOrdered on swiggy. The service and ambience may be good, the hygiene may be good. I don't know. And the North Indian food may be good. I don't know.
But the South Indian food here is bad.
I ordered a masala dosa, idli and Vada and Paratha with sabji. The Paratha was nice and soft and the sabji was well cooked and tasty. That's why I think the North Indian food here might be good.
But the QUANTITY of the sabji that they gave for the high price that they charge is ROBBERY in my opinion.
But the masala dosa's masala had gone slightly stale. The taste wasn't authentic South Indian. The idli was good and soft. Vada was roast and nice.
But the main thing being side dish in South Indian:
The SAMBHAR was just oil, salt and water with some vegetables. Forget about authenticity. It's not even sambhar. I couldn't find any dal in it. Tasted bad.
The chutneys (coconut and ground nut) were not as bad.
But I'm definitely never ordering South Indian from this place again.
I understand North Indians and Odia people liking the South Indian food here. They don't know what real South Indian food tastes like. But fellow South Indians finding this SAMBHAR good is confusing to me.
So far, the best South Indian restaurant I've ever seen in Bhubaneswar is IDLI BHAVAN.
But I'll try the North Indian food here again. But they should consider increasing their quantity offered. I understand that maintaining hygiene and quality ingredients makes it more costly, but whatever you charge there's only so much hygiene and quality you can realistically provide. So for the price they charge, they should increase the quantity.
My price was low only because I have swiggy offers and discounts.
Bottom-line:
Definitely NO SOUTH INDIAN High price, low quantity Good quality Can try...
