The hidden gemstone of South Delhi, Jamun has been an exuberant dining Lounge that serves Indian Regional Food with values, cultural heritage and in the traditional form. The Ambience and Simplicity is what they project and it clearly reflect through the food they serve. This is the reason why this place is Always packed with Foreign guest as they also relish the cultural inheritage of India, served here with love and happiness.
The Decor is simply classy with Jamun color streak on the walls and shades of pastels in floral roof corners. It's a Cosy place with Hanging Roof Tea Lamps in wood and English Ball lights. The seating is informal with cane chairs, sofas and wooden, marble tables. The Bar is located in the left cornered end with a supreme collection of Malts, Wines, Beers, and more. Even the non-alcoholic variants are quite interesting and nice. The catch in the entire set up is the Copper Dishware and servewares, which shower oomph on the Regional cuisines. A welcome 3 layered stack of accompaniments served array of Dips, pickles, lolpapaddams, onions, chillies, lemon and ghee Roast to make our dining a feast.
To start our food ecstasy, we ordered Few Mocktails and all of them were refreshing and so tasty. We tried, Kalla Khatta, Juniper Tonic and Khas cooler. I loved Juniper Tonic the most made from Homemade Juniper syrup, lime and tonic water and had a subtle taste.
The starters that accompanied the drinks were Mutton Ghee Roast, Jamun Chicken 66, Ajwaini Mahi Tikka with side salad and chutney and Thetcha prawns with Indian Herb Salad. The Starters were a lovely amalgamation of the regional herbs and infused with clean and distinct Flavors of their region. Portions are suitable for 2 people and they were cooked and served in the most Authentic way.
I loved the Thetcha Prawns with Indian Herb Salad the most, coming from West coast of India, Mumbai which was distinct and unusually nice from what I tasted in regular seafood dishes. Medium sized prawns marinated in Fresh Herbs, and herbed Yogurt dressing made up of green chillies, peppers, peanuts, and garlic. Medium spiced, this dish brings tongue- licking warmth from spices, yet the soothing coolness of yogurt balances the heat. This dish is surely spiced and sea food lovers.
In the mains, we tasted Meen moilee and Chicken Vindaloo, along with South Indian breads Appam and Malabar parantha. Appam is my favorite bread Anyday and it went so well with both above coastal dishes.
Chicken Vindaloo, A Goan speciality and Chefs Picu Granny secret recipe, this boneless chicken dish is cooked to mouth melt-in softness in vinegar, red chillies, whole spices, and mild sweetness. It was made just the way Chef has relished this throughout his life. It was Authentic and robust in taste. Paired it with light Appam, this was relished by me the most.
Meen Moilee, A Keralan delight, this is a sublime dish comprising Soul fillets tempered with coconut oil, turmeric, curry leaves, lemon and green chillies. A tongue tantalizer, this dish went well when paired with Malabar parantha.
Coming to the end of the Gourmet lunch, I would say Deserts were the clear winner of this luncheon.
Jamun Kulfi, A In-house speciality, and sprinkled with Salt, every bite of the Kulfi on stick reminded me of Jamun we used to eat with salt. Served in a copperware vessel, it promises Authentic taste and it surely was, Absolute Yum!!
Rabri Falooda
Another Divine desert from their kitchen and original recipe from Dilli 6, this one was surely a delicious dessert. The Sago pearls added to the delight and presentation making it gorgeously Beautiful.
One of the pristine lunch, which we enjoyed to the core. Staff was courteous and hospitality was what Indian Culture is famous for, Warm and Welcoming.
Happy to be here and looking forward to visit...

Read moreAfter months of reviewing ratings on Zomato, I finally decided to treat the family over at JAMUN. The name sparked a bit of curiosity in the restaurant's theme and mummy felt a sort of positivity from the place hence the destination was settled upon.
The place lies a 5 sec walk, up road from the famous Guppy By Ai, essentially on the same road and same road side as the place. The signboard is visible from roadside hence finding the place will be little to no trouble.
Our first step through the door and we were greeted by the cheerful manager/reservation guy(I failed to ask his name or duty. My apologies) and he asked for our reservation status along with answering my simple query about reservation via Zomato.
We were offered the table nearest to the starting queue which was well lit, furnished and spaced. The decor of the place is quite unique with not too bright lights, light furniture, visibly stacked bar and old bollywood songs punctuating the air. The happy voices and drowning laughs of people were conveying the good nature of the place.
Before ordering our appetisers of Dahi Kebab with Mango Chunda, Shikampuri Kebab and Lemon Butter Garlic prawns; we were served with an assortment of pappads and chutneys which included apple and pineapple chutney. I loved the texture and flavour of the apple and pineapple ones. The apple one was a bit mellow and deep in flavour while the pineapple one had a special sourness to it. Also special mention to the Lemon Butter Prawn which were divine.
Our main course included Nadru Yakhni with Theplas, Appams and Hyderabadi dum biryani. Mummy was not a big fan of the Yakhni, the broth did have some flavour but was overpowered by the taste of curd which was used in the preparation and lotus stems present in it were bland. Biryani was mildly spiced with tender meat and excellent cucumber raita.
For dessert, we decided to go with Jamun Kulfi and my all time favourite; Rasmalai. We were informed that the Kulfi was 100% pure Jamun(which it did turn out to be. I did taste hints of kala namak in it). The Rasmalai was heavenly.
Also, I did not the famous Kaala Khatta mocktail which I had praised by a lot of fellow reviewers. It was of perfect blend and flavour. Not too cold to freeze your palate and perfectly complementing the food.
The staff was diligent and willing workers. We kept having regular visits from the chef and Mr.Manager/Reservation guy(once again sorry) along with our servers. They all had smiles and a welcoming air around them. Quite a few main dishes were suggested by them to us and most turned out to be very good.
Overall, for a restaurant that opened about 3 months ago, they are quite professional in their work. The management took in our suggestions about improvements and conveyed their thinking behind the place quite well via the decor, menu and ambience.
I sense this place may soon be added to my special list of Lodhi Colony haunts. Expect a re-visit from me...
