Fool Me Once, Shame on You. Fool Me Twice... Shame On Me"This time, it’s literally “shame on me.” After our last family visit to this chain, we faced subtle yet very evident discrimination — purely because of our language and our simple attire. It was disheartening, to say the least. I had even written a review on Google highlighting the experience, after which I received calls from the management. They extended apologies and used the same old-school trick of “offering lollypop” — a symbolic attempt to pacify us without addressing the root of the issue.
Despite that, we gave them the benefit of the doubt. We visited other outlets of the same chain and, to be fair, they were good in every aspect — food, service, and hospitality. But yesterday, “shame on me,” we decided to visit the Odeon Plaza, Dwarka outlet again with family.
Our order was simple and straightforward: a Paneer Dosa, a South Indian Thali, and from the à la carte menu — Paneer Sabji, Butter Roti, and Daal for my parents and me. The Dosa and the à la carte items were served in 20 minutes, which seemed acceptable. My wife, excited for her favorite dish, patiently waited for the South Indian Thali.
We began eating, expecting the Thali to arrive shortly. We were nearly done with our meal — a good 30 minutes had passed — when the manager informed us that the Thali would take another 15 minutes. Trying to be understanding, we placed our final order — plain rice and a refill of yellow daal.
Another 15 minutes passed. Finally, the South Indian Thali was served. Just as we were informed that the plain rice would take yet another 20 minutes, we had reached our limit. Tired and a bit frustrated, we canceled the rice. Since our hands still had a dry coating of gravy and daal, we ordered another round of rotis instead, which were served immediately.
Then came the most baffling part of the experience — the South Indian Thali, which had just been served, included a full bowl of rice. Yes, rice! The very item we were made to cancel due to the delay.
This was our last visit to this outlet....
Read moreDefence Colony Sagar is a wonderful place to enjoy some authentic and delicious South Indian cuisine in New Delhi. The restaurant is famous for its dosas, which are thin and crispy rice crepes stuffed with various fillings and served with different chutneys and sambar. The dosas are made fresh and hot, and they are very satisfying and filling.
The best thing about Defence Colony Sagar is their red chutney, which is my favourite. The red chutney is made of roasted red chillies, garlic, coconut, tamarind, and salt. It is spicy, tangy, and flavorful, and it goes well with any dosa. I especially love their rava onion masala dosa, which is filled with spiced potatoes and onions and smeared with red chutney. The combination of the crunchy dosa, the soft potato masala, and the fiery red chutney is heavenly.
Another thing that I like about Defence Colony Sagar is their staff and service. The staff is very polite and attentive, and they serve you with a smile. The service is fast and efficient, and you don't have to wait long for your order. The restaurant is also very clean and hygienic, and they follow all the safety measures. The restaurant has a nice ambiance, with simple and elegant decor and soothing music. You can relax and enjoy your meal with your friends or family.
The only thing that could be improved at Defence Colony Sagar is their parking facility and washroom. The restaurant is located in a busy area, and it can be difficult to find a parking spot nearby. You might have to walk a bit or take public transportation to get there. The washroom is also another problem, as it is not very well maintained or spacious. It can be inconvenient for some customers.
Overall, Defence Colony Sagar is a must-visit for all dosa lovers. You will...
Read moreI, otherwise, have always loved Sagar Ratna. From the time Delhi had its first one at Lodhi hotel and I was merely 3 year old when I visited it! Their, ghee roast dosa. The rasam papad. Their kasundi. Dahi vada, filter coffee, basically, most of what they have had on their menu have been reasons I have loved and revisited this place for almost two and a half decades now! However, my experience yesterday at Sagar Ratna, Dwarka sector 6 market, was worse than bad. The rasam had too much garam masala. My lime soda glass arrived with someone else's lipstick mark on it. There was no kasundi on the menu (and this dish was one of the reason we used to visit Sagar Ratna) !! Plus that sweet dish that was available, was not edible. The staff was ignorant, kept forgetting our order, and even brought along extra stuff that we did not ask for at the first place. Basically food was bad, service was bad the overall experience was bad, and I was heartbroken, for this one is supposed to be a chain of restaurants, we suggest to people, who...
