La Terrazza – A 4-Star Culinary Journey with Room for Improvement
My experience at La Terrazza was a rollercoaster of flavors and emotions that ultimately confirmed its reputation as one of the top dining destinations in town. Here’s a detailed look at my visits:
Initial Disappointment
On my first visit, I was left disappointed by what I experienced. The meal featured fish and gravy that felt stale and lacked the authentic Goan touch one would expect. The dishes were far from fresh, and there was little to showcase the vibrant spices and flavors inherent to Goan cuisine. Concerned, I spoke directly with the chef to express my dissatisfaction.
A Chef’s Response That Changed Everything
To my surprise, the chef took my feedback seriously and invited me to return for a subsequent meal. This gesture set the stage for a dramatically improved dining experience that truly reflected the high ratings La Terrazza enjoys. The follow-up meal revealed the true culinary potential of the restaurant.
A Buffet That Impresses
On my return, the variety and quality of dishes available were outstanding. Both the vegetarian and non-vegetarian options were thoughtfully curated, demonstrating a remarkable balance of flavors and ingredients. The buffet spread was exemplary—each dish meticulously prepared, from the delicate seafood offerings to the robust flavors of meat and veg specialties. Every bite affirmed that La Terrazza is committed to quality and excellence.
An Elevated Seafood Experience
Curious to see if the quality remained consistent, I revisited La Terrazza for another meal. This time, the seafood selection was taken up a notch. The preparation was nothing short of amazing, with fresh seafood cooked to perfection, bursting with flavors that were both innovative and true to the essence of local cuisine.
Final Thoughts
La Terrazza earns a solid 4-star rating in my book. While the initial meal was below expectations, the restaurant’s prompt response and subsequent culinary excellence restored my faith. A perfect 5-star rating might have been reached if not for the rocky start, but the remarkable turnaround and high-quality offerings make La Terrazza a must-visit for those in search of outstanding Goan and international flavors.

A multi-cuisine all-day diner, La Terrazza is perhaps most popular for its Goan specialties. Combing through time-treasured coastal recipes, the restaurant creates a stir with its Vegetable Xacuti, Kingfish Recheado, Pork Vindaloo, and Sol Kadhi while you get comfortable in its Portuguese-styled house. The French-styled windows overlook a simmering fountain and set the tone for a sumptuous feast as you dig in.
Of the two times I visited, I spoiled my taste buds with the a-la carte dinner and breakfast buffet. The Vegetable Xacuti was a spicy stew of carrots, cauliflower, and green beans simmered in roasted coconut. Derived from the Harmal region of Goa, Xacuti cooks a treasured fisherfolk's tale passed down through generations and experimented with varying intensities of spices. Indulging this dish with Ukadem Tandul (par-boiled Goan rice) which had a nutty texture complemented the coconut-milk based Xacuti well. To prep your taste buds, I opted for the minestrone vegetable soup which had a generous helping of seasoned veggies waltzing in a rich tomato broth.
For the breakfast buffet, they had clear distinctions of vegetarian and meat selection. From hot milk, cold milk, fresh fruits, cereals, chole, sheera, paranthas, bread, muffins, breads, Darjeeling Tea, Earl Grey Tea, English breakfast Tea, the options were exhaustive. They even had a LIVE Dosa counter and a LIVE your-eggs-your-way counter right next to the fountain.
While the spread was delectable, the buffet fell a tad short on sheer flavours of Goa. But the buffet is economical as you can have it as a brunch.
Overall, La Terrazza is definitely a delightful treat if you wish to leave with an aftertaste of...
Read moreHad a very bad experience at this place. The order itself took over forty minutes to be served . Had ordered for Mac n cheese, grilled fish fillet and herb grilled chicken. A dish as basic as Mac n cheese took the most time to be served and that too it was extremely salty. The grilled fish fillet had more than 6 bones which is really bad, not only this the dish was extremely oily. The menu stated the dish to be served with mashed potatoes and veggies. The potatoes were missing and the veggies too were extremely oily. The grilled chicken was alright. The only saving grace was the desert babinca, which was good. I would definitely not recommend this...
