I have alluded to the quality of the food that Rohan and his team serve up in my review of his Casa, but more on just the food here, which is excellent in every way. Rohan has travelled and worked in hotels/ships widely outside India and this shows in the menu, with the added bonus of the signature Darjeeling momos that are as simple as they need to be, but not easy to make as well as the team here makes them. Every other plate we ate was good, and the coconut encrusted prawns were a good new taste of seafood, with a Carribean flavour. The simple Margarita pizza, a good way to judge pizza quality, was good too.
Food served up includes a very good breakfast that Rohan makes and serves himself; the breakfast that is part of the Casa plan is itself quite adequate, but may be augmented by a la carte options.
There is really little need to eat outside once check in has been done, except for an occasional change of scene that takes in sea views.
One area that needs work are the gelatos because they have to compete with the world class gelato offerings at Anjuna; on the other hand the espresso was as good as a well brewed roast can be.
Definitely a must visit for anyone in the Calangute to Nerul/Sinquerim/Reis Magos area, even if not staying at the Casa. And for locals, of course, a welcome change from the usual menu seen these days. It may not quite be fine dining, but the food is in the probably more welcome tradition of excellent comfort food.
We did not order much from the bar because we were carrying our local stuff around, but the list looked interesting and should be as good as the food. I will not comment on the wine list because I don't recall what was on it. For wine lovers, there is also a good international selection at the Newton store in nearby Candolim, where you can buy your preference and carry with you - there may or may not be a corkage to pay but my guess is that it...
Read moreI recently visited this restaurant, and unfortunately, the experience was quite disappointing, especially considering the cost involved. To begin with, the place was swarming with mosquitoes, which made it very uncomfortable to sit and enjoy the meal. For a restaurant that charges such high prices, one would expect better hygiene and a more pleasant dining environment.
The food and drinks were also priced on the higher side, but the quantity served did not justify the amount charged. For example, I ordered a fish dish that cost me ₹600, but the portion was extremely small, served in what looked like a 4-inch omelette pan. It hardly felt worth the price paid. The overall food menu was quite limited, focusing mainly on Italian dishes, which left very little variety for those who might want to try something different.
Service was another area where the restaurant fell short. There were limited staff members, which resulted in long waiting times for orders. To make matters worse, it seemed that the restaurant gave more priority to online food delivery platforms like Zomato and Swiggy than to the customers who were actually dining in. This made the wait even more frustrating and gave the impression that walk-in guests were not valued as much.
Even on food delivery apps, the discounts offered were minimal, which further emphasized the high pricing. Overall, the experience was underwhelming. For the amount charged, I expected better quality, better service, and a more customer-friendly environment. Not a place I would...

The hotel's restaurant, Roadhouse Pizzeria, undoubtedly offered the tastiest pizzas in all of Goa. The diverse menu and delightful flavors contributed to a memorable culinary experience.
