At Mizu in Siolim, Japanese cuisine comes alive with dishes that demand a bold palate, far from the tame, localized versions elsewhere.
Start with the Salmon and Foie Gras Aburi, where torched salmon and velvety foie gras meld in a decadent bite, or the Fatty Tuna Taru Taru, its lush texture elevated by subtle seasoning.
The Fire Grilled Scallop with Mentako Butter and Miso Corn Mousse balances smoky depth with creamy sweetness, while the Himachi with garam masala smoked Ponzu offers a zesty, smoky thrill.

The Hiyashi Wakame which is a seafood salad piled to resemble a Christmas tree, brings a crisp, briny start, and the Salmon Tuna with Gondhoraj and Truffle layers citrus and truffle for a bold finish.

The pricing is unreasonably steep for dishes that fell flat on flavour.
What truly puzzled me was the illogical cocktail pricing. A cocktail infused with 60 mL of a particular liquor was significantly cheaper than ordering the same spirit neat in the same quantity. This inconsistency in pricing raises questions about both value and transparency.
As for the seating – it may look chic, but it’s far from comfortable. The cushions kept sliding, and the lack of armrests made it difficult to sit back and relax. It’s a space designed more for aesthetics than for actual dining comfort.
The one redeeming element was the dessert – beautifully presented, well-executed, and genuinely delicious. It was the only highlight in an otherwise underwhelming experience. 5 star for the desserts.

Avoid such scamming tactics and the...
