We recently visited Niyaaz in Goa and luckily we got to meet their Belgaum chef who had come down to Goa. He informed us that Niyaaz have introduced a centralised kitchen in Belgaum to ensure the exact same taste at all their locations. Not just this, he also recommended us to try their specials right from the starters to the dessert. And we must say, we left the place with the impression that Niyaaz is much more than their well known biryanis.
We ordered: Chicken soup with lemon and coriander: This chicken soup was very light. It's perfect if you are planning for heavy main course. It had lots of veggies too with a dash of lemon flavour.
Grilled chicken: Recommended. The marination masala was flavoursome and chicken was grilled impeccably. Even the given chutney complimented the chicken well.
Nizaami kebab: Must try! We absolutely loved these kebabs. They had a unique tangy and indulging flavour.
Mutton seekh kebab: Must try for all the mutton lovers! Being a seekh kebab fan, we would say these are one of the best mutton seekh kebab in Goa.
Biryani: Must try! We ordered Chicken biryani, Mutton biryani and Hyderabadi chicken biryani. We loved all the 3 variants!! Their biryanis made us nostalgic about our belgaum Niyaaz visits. The taste was exactly the same as Belgaum Niyaaz biryanis.
Chicken lazeez with Kulcha: Recommended. This chicken gravy was rich with flavours just like how mughlai gravys usually are!! Kulcha was well done and crispy.
Mutton zaika with butter naan: Recommended. Loved this combo with butter naan. Mutton lovers should definitely try this.
Falooda: Must try! We tried 4 flavours - Rose, Chocolate, Mango and Strawberry. All were yummy but we liked rose and chocolate more!!
Service: Quick and prompt service. Staff was helpful and welcoming.
Cost: Most of the items are in the range of 200 to 350 bucks.
We had a memorable experience at Niyaaz. Would definitely...
Read moreSince it is conveniently located just off the highway, my husband and I decided to have lunch there on our return from Panjim yesterday. Despite the high reviews and brand name of " Niyaz" we had a very poor experience there.Firstly , despite our wish to order some other mutton dish, the waiter kept on literally forcing us to order ' laal maas'.We wanted 'mutton bhuna" but no, we were told they are both the same thing and you will get " 5 big pieces " of mutton...you must order laal maas ....so we gave in.
Food was delivered within 10 minutes , which is good. However, the quality was a shock! The mutton keema, priced 310/- was a green gooey slop of who knows what and did not taste of mutton keema at all.The naan were ok.But the much forced upon Laal maas was the nastiest shock.5 large pieces, yes, of BONE.With a bit of lard and cartilage attached. No mutton flesh whatsoever. Floating in a thick oily paste of artificially red curry. We are from Rajasthan and know what Laal maas tastes like. This was not it.There was no mutton and no taste. And priced at over inr 400/-.
Anyway we paid up and left with a parcel of chicken biryani which when had at home was decent in taste.
After reaching home I had severe stomach pain and nausea. Recovered after many hours of discomfort and medication.
Probably , the restaurant had last night's laal maas leftovers they needed to get rid of and so the waiter forced us to order it.Only bones in the dish and I fell ill after consuming stale food.
Despite its hype, we are totally disappointed by our first visit to this restaurant and strongly advise against patronising it.There are equally good biryani joints in Panjim. This place is a cheat and just exploiting unsuspecting customers. Never going back...
