Review: Hariyali Hotel (Near Gurukul Char Rasta), Vadodara
Cuisine: Pure Vegetarian (Punjabi, Gujarati Thali, Kathiyawadi, Chinese) Overall Rating: 3.0/5 (Based purely on food quality, minus points for experience)
Hariyali Hotel, located conveniently near Gurukul Char Rasta, is a popular pure-vegetarian spot known primarily for its extensive menu. However, the dining experience itself is sharply divided between the quality of the kitchen and the consistency of the front-of-house operations.
Food Quality & Taste (The Reliable Strength)
The kitchen staff here delivers. The food, especially the North Indian Punjabi dishes and the Gujarati/Kathiyawadi Thali, is genuinely flavorful and prepared well. Portions are generous, and the pricing is very reasonable for the quality of the ingredients. If your priority is authentic, tasty vegetarian food for takeout or delivery, Hariyali remains a strong contender.
Service & Seating Policy (The Major Drawback)
Unfortunately, the service is a consistently poor experience, a common complaint that appears to be unaddressed. Wait times are long, and staff attentiveness is generally low.
A significant point of frustration is the rigid seating policy. Customers are often directed where to sit, regardless of their preference or the availability of tables. For instance, being denied a seat in the empty, comfortable AC hall and being directed to the outdoor seating area, even during non-rush hours, is an unusual and unwelcome practice.
Ambience & Environment
The indoor ambiance is family-friendly and traditional. However, if directed to the overflow seating, the experience plummets. Being seated in the area near the main door, even if covered, exposes diners to continuous street noise and vehicle honking, making conversation difficult and turning dinner into a frustrating, noisy affair. This lack of a peaceful dining environment severely detracts from the meal.
Value for Money
While the food is priced well for its quality and quantity, the overall value proposition is weak due to the stressful dining environment and poor service. You pay for the food, but you don't get a relaxing, pleasant experience.
Final Verdict
Hariyali Hotel is a venue I can only recommend for its food quality. It is an excellent choice if you are seeking takeout or delivery for their excellent Punjabi cuisine. If you intend to visit and dine in, be prepared for an irritating, inconsistent service experience and the high likelihood of a noisy, uncomfortable seating arrangement.

Food was decent and ambience just about okay, but the service? Absolutely PATHETIC! This is the second time I’ve faced serious issues here, and frankly, it’s shocking how careless and arrogant they are.
During my first visit, me and my family had to wait for over 45 minutes just to get a table. After finally getting seated, even basic things like water were only served after multiple requests. Then, our food took another 30 minutes to arrive! When I asked why the service was so slow, the restaurant manager casually said, "This is how we work" — with zero professionalism or apology. Unbelievable attitude!
Now coming to my second visit, the Tap and Pay facility wasn't working, and instead of taking responsibility, the cashier had the audacity to blame my mobile without even checking properly. After several failed attempts, I had to walk all the way to my car to fetch a physical card just to pay the bill. NO apologies, no customer courtesy — nothing!
If you can't maintain basic standards like service or payment facilities, you have no right to charge customers service charges! It's a total scam and a disgrace to customer service.
I'm seriously considering filing an official complaint against this restaurant. Enough is enough.

Read moreThe restaurant is located at nicely placed building and has available parking at the adjoining lane side and they do not have their own parking place. But the availability of parking in evening at road side is adequate. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating also available. The lighting and decor is good. The food served is good in taste and seems to be healthy enough. They mainly serve Punjabi, Chinese, Sizzler, Continental and Mexican cuisines. The interior and ambiance of the restaurant is good enough and comfortable. The only reason to rate it 3 star is mainly 2 reasons. REASON 1: The restaurant has local water problem due to municipality issues prevalent in the area. Yet the restaurant management does not offer mineral water at free of cost to the guests. Actually any restaurant needs to provide quality drinking water to guests and if not available should arrange the same at their own cost. REASON 2: We had been there for our anniversary celebration in a group of 9 persons and at 9.00 pm they took over 45 minutes to serve the order and the service was not attentive and quick enough. The restaurant management should think about investing in making a good handy menu card which looks good. Overall a good...
