I recently had the opportunity to dine at Kathiyawadi Food Restaurant, and I must say that I was thoroughly disappointed with my experience. From the moment I walked in, the overall atmosphere was lackluster and uninviting. Here are some specific reasons why I would not recommend this restaurant:
Mediocre Service: The service at Kathiyawadi Restaurant was subpar at best. The staff seemed disinterested and inattentive. It took an excessively long time to be seated, and once seated, we had to constantly flag down waiters for even the most basic requests. They appeared overwhelmed and understaffed, resulting in a frustrating dining experience.
Poor Hygiene: Hygiene is of utmost importance when it comes to dining establishments, and sadly, Kathiyawadi Restaurant failed to meet basic standards. The tables were unclean, with visible food stains and sticky surfaces. The utensils were poorly washed and had food residue on them. These lapses in cleanliness were off-putting and left me questioning the overall hygiene of the kitchen.
Substandard Food Quality: The highlight of any restaurant should be its food, but Kathiyawadi Restaurant fell short in this area as well. The dishes lacked the authentic flavors I expected from a Kathiyawadi cuisine. The curries were overly greasy, lacking in spice, and tasted generic. The presentation was unappetizing, and it seemed like little effort was put into preparing the dishes.
Limited Menu Variety: Another letdown was the limited menu variety at Kathiyawadi Restaurant. The options were quite limited, offering little choice for those with specific dietary preferences or restrictions. The lack of variety made the dining experience monotonous and left me wanting more options to choose from.
Unreasonable Prices: Considering the disappointing quality of the food and the overall experience, the prices at Kathiyawadi Restaurant were unjustifiably high. I expected a better value for my money, but sadly, I felt like I overpaid for an underwhelming meal.
Overall, my visit to Kathiyawadi Restaurant left me with a negative impression. The lackluster service, poor hygiene, substandard food quality, limited menu variety, and unreasonable prices make it difficult for me to recommend this restaurant to others. I hope the management takes these criticisms constructively and makes necessary improvements to provide a better dining experience...
Read moreAfter having to "reject" several so-called Gujarati thali places which we found served palak paneer and bhindi etc, my friend and I decided to trust Google baba and head for a place advertising real Kathiawari food. It was a long ride to reach and locate "Kathiyawad Food." Once inside, the coxy, compact place seemed more welcoming than others.
As the food arrived, it was indeed genuine Kathawadi food (my friend is from near the Bhavnagar area). It was fresh and the rotis - both wheat and bajra - were hot, well-cooked, with ghee on them (the ghee tasted fresh too) and tasty, overall.
Importantly, the food was served with a spirit to feed and satisfy, not in a mechanical fashion. We were told the veggies etc were locally and organically sourced. What we can confirm is that the taste of the sabzis was not overpowered by masala or oil. The salad, papad, chhach etc were all plentiful. The chef - the lady at the counter who seemed to oversee the cooking also - was very pleasantly and genuinely interested in us relishing the food, as were the other people running the place.
The kadhi was just the right amount tart and light to be appetizing. A small amount of khichdi I sampled was delightful in its simplicity.
There was a feeling overall of a small-scale homestyle eatery, genuinely caring about serving hot, fresh, tasteful food. Not a place serving out thalis by the hundreds each day as a matter of routine.
For this Dilliwaala, it was a great find in Ahmedabad. Wishing everyone at the restaurant - the owners, chefs and servers - the best for attending to us, and for the continued serving of great food! Oh and the laddu...
Read moreI went to the restaurant with my group. We were in total 11 people (including me). The place is a bit small, only 20 seats. Just feels like one room of the house has been comverted into dinning room.
But that is not the problem, the main issue was the food. It was below average. Even though it was a full ₹400 "Kathiyawadi thali", they did not have any farsan, which is a staple food for the dish. Moreover, it was an unlimited cusine and still, they were out of one of the sweets.
It doesn't end there, the rice was served half cooked and the chapati's were sometimes overcooked (slightly burnt as well) and we asked for buttermilk 8 times for 20 mins before it was served.
Half of the staff was also non-native and thus didn't understand what dish we were asking for, and they were very under confident as well in presenting the food. We had to ask twice about what is the item in order to hear their voice. Now it's not fully their fault that they are not accustomed to Kathiyawadi names as they are non natives, but then if you are opening a restaurant then it is the owner's duty to see if the staff is adequately trained or not.
Nonetheless, the food – ambience – service nothing was worth ₹400. I would advice that they need to drastically improve their offerings in order to...
