We were a group of 9 dining together, and unfortunately, our experience was quite disappointing — not because of the food, but due to how we were treated by the staff. After spending a reasonable amount of time at our table and enjoying our meal, we were indirectly asked to leave. The server approached us and requested our “final order” in a tone and manner that strongly suggested we were being rushed out to make room for others.
What made this even more baffling is that there was no waiting line or crowd outside the restaurant. No one was waiting to be seated. So the urgency to move us out felt entirely unnecessary and frankly, quite rude.
There was no polite explanation, no transparency, just subtle pressure to finish up and vacate the table — which made our group feel extremely unwelcome. We were a decent-sized party, and our bill reflected that we had ordered generously. Yet we were made to feel like an inconvenience.
We came in expecting a relaxed, enjoyable dining experience, but we left feeling disappointed and unappreciated. Hospitality is more than just serving food — it’s about making guests feel comfortable, respected, and valued. Sadly, that was completely missing here.
I hope management reflects on how they treat customers, especially those who come in as a group and bring good business. There are plenty of other restaurants that offer great food and treat their patrons with the courtesy...
Read moreWe were at toroni on Tuesday - 25th Feb, since we were visiting from Middle East and were in Ahmedabad for the first time, my family decided to invite our extended cousins for dinner - 11 of us. We had to drive 21 kms to get there but felt worth it - I’ve been following chef brown’s journey on Instagram and was in love with what his journey looked like on social media, since I’ve lived in Canada too.
But with all the hype aside, the food was way below average. All 11 of us walked out starving inspite of paying a 7.5k INR bill, at 12 midnight, it was pretty embarrassing for us. The pastas were extremely disappointing, and only pesto pizza was close to likeable. We had ordered 4 kinds of pasta, bread basket, mozrella sticks and 3 kinds of different pizzas. It was all tasteless.
When I say this, I’m very disappointed because it seemed like the restaurant has curated this menu from Italy, then I’m sorry you’re nowhere close. I’ve been Italy and have had the authentic pasta and pizza.
The staff was not very accommodating with the taste. Overall all, I’d been so looking forward to visiting Toroni when I would come to india especially Ahmedabad. Yes, the look and the vibe is great here.
But highly disappointed with the Food!! And it’s just a hyped place. Don’t waste your money and time, Ahmedabad has other...
Read moreDisappointed Experience at Toroni Italian Restaurant
My recent visit to Toroni Italian Restaurant left much to be desired. While some dishes like the burrata and arancini were satisfactory, others fell short of expectations. The funghi scottati was disappointingly chewy, and the Noma pizza lacked proper sizing for its price, coming out dry with minimal sauce. The pesto genovese and pasta dishes, though good, lacked the richness and depth expected in Italian cuisine.
Beyond the culinary disappointments, the experience was marred by the unexpected additional charges for olive oil, chili oil, and even bread, referred to as "pane." This practice is not in line with the hospitality typically associated with Italian dining. Having traveled to Italy myself, I was disheartened by the lack of respect for traditions regarding complimentary bread and olive oil.
In contrast, other establishments like Romanos in Mumbai (JW Sahar) maintain the tradition of complimentary bread and olive oil, showcasing a deeper understanding of Italian dining culture.
Overall, while the service was prompt, Toroni Italian Restaurant needs to reconsider its pricing strategy and revisit its commitment to honoring Italian culinary traditions. As a patron who values authenticity, I hope to see improvements...
