Let me be perfectly clear: this place is a paradox. It serves some of the most incredible North Indian food you will ever taste, but getting to enjoy it comes with a unique set of challenges.
The Food: Absolutely Unmatched (4/5)
Let's start with the reason you're here: the food. It is nothing short of spectacular.
Chana Bhatura: Forget Murthal. Seriously. The bhaturas are light, fluffy, and perfectly fried, arriving like golden pillows of joy. The chana is spiced masterfully, and the best part? They give you more servings of chola if you want. You will not leave hungry. Stuffed Naans: Whether it's aloo, paneer, or anything else, their stuffed naans are legendary. Buttery, flavorful, and generously filled, they are a meal in themselves.
The food is so good it almost makes you forget everything else. Almost.
The Service & Experience: The Main Hurdle (1/5)
This is where the five-star food dream crashes into a one-star reality.
Rude & Condescending Attitude: The owner and servers have a demeanor that can only be described as "grudgingly tolerant." You are not made to feel like a valued customer; you are made to feel like you are receiving charity. They talk to you as if you're getting the food for free and are an inconvenience for simply being there. It's baffling and leaves a very sour taste.
System & Payment: Be prepared for an old-school system. You must take a coupon first before you sit down. There is no printed bill. Furthermore, they strongly prefer and expect payment in cash, so come prepared.
Ambiance & Facilities:
Good News! (Update): As of my last visit in late May 24, they have installed AC in both service halls What was once a hot and sweaty affair is now a comfortable and cool dining experience. You can truly savor the hot food now. When I went again during October, 25, the AC's were kept off.
Major Drawback: Be aware that there is no customer washroom. Plan your visit accordingly, especially if you're traveling from afar.
The Verdict:
This place operates on a simple, unspoken contract: you tolerate their arrogance and operational quirks, and in return, you are rewarded with a meal that borders on divine.
Would I go back? Yes, but with managed expectations. I go for the chana bhatura, not for a pleasant interaction. It's busy and in high demand for a reasonāthe food is that good. If the owner could match the politeness to the quality of his kitchen, this would be the undisputed king of eateries. Until then, brace yourself for a rollercoaster of exquisite flavors and...
