I had VERY high hopes for this place. The place looks nice but that's where it ends because when it comes to the service, it's absolutely pathetic. As you walk in, there's nobody there to sit you down. Waiters walk past you in a rush and refuse to acknowledge you. I had to work very hard to get a waiter's attention to find out if any tables were available. Finally, we got a table for the two of us and we were soon moved to another table as a large group of people were already booked for the table we were originally sat on. We then sat on our new table and looked at the menu. The menu is limited but looked ok. Again, we had to wait 30 mins for someone to actually come take our order. I ordered ravioli and my husband ordered the trout. 5 minutes later, an elderly chef comes out and tells us that the ravioli have run out and asked us how we'd like our trout. He also mentioned that they had fish and chips as an option so my husband asked if he could have that instead. The chef then goes to check whether the fish and chips are available. He never asks me what I want instead of the ravioli. The chef hasn't returned to this day lol... we waited for another 30 mins. We got our drinks within that hour and when we got REALLY fed up, I got up and spoke to a waiter to understand what was going on. He said he'd go check in the kitchen but didn't. I, fed up of the wait and pathetic service, asked for the bill for the two drinks as I wanted to take my business elsewhere. The waiter refused and said that the order was pending. I failed to understand what order was pending when it was never confirmed??? In the end, we got so frustrated because of no communication from the staff members, we left the money for the drinks on the table and left. Nobody noticed us leaving either lol. The lady owner is too busy selling jam to people and has no attention to service or to what her staff is up to. This place and their management really need to get their act together! Absolute chaos!! I've dined in countless restaurants around the world and never received such bad service. What a total let...

We were 12 of us and went there for lunch at 12:30. We placed a lot of orders and they said our will reach in 20-30 mins n vb we were okay to wait They have a lovely setting of a well placed garden which is frankly the only good part! First they came to me after 15 mins saying your mutton curry will take too much time, so order an alternative chicken curry, n we agreed… after another 15 mins they came back saying that one is also unavailable and order another curry… we put up… and ordered a 3rd curry…. N after 20’mins when we thought we getting all the food they come back saying they couldn’t prepare that n order chicken burger!

Like really!!! Instea did chicken curry n roti they expects to have some precooked chicken patty burger!

We asked them to cancel n left the place and they were rude n unapologetic about the fact that it took them nearly 50 Mins to come n tell us they don’t have any chicken to cook!!! Would have appreciated if they told us upfront that there are no chicken dishes….

We pretty sure the good reviews are only for the good looking place n the ambience which is pic worthy! Service sucks! The owner/ manager one slightly aged person was rude too….

Then we ended up reading the negative reviews n many people have had similar experiences…. Bad tasting food… very little quantity for the exorbitant price… poorly attitude staff!

If you wanna save money n time, please avoid visiting the place !

Would have given Zero starts if there...

Fat Plate in Manali is a hidden gem that offers a dining experience filled with charm, warmth, and delectable flavors. Nestled in a serene setting, this quaint spot features an old rustic house vibe with a lovely outdoor seating area. The mountain views from the outdoor seating add a magical touch, making it a perfect place to relax and enjoy a meal.

One of the highlights of our visit was the hospitality. The owner, Ms. Rati, welcomed us with genuine warmth and even shared her inspiring story. Her passion and dedication to creating a memorable dining experience shine through in every aspect of the café.

As for the food, it was absolutely delightful! We tried the Chicken Breast, Fish Tikka, and the Trout Fish, and each dish was cooked to perfection. The flavors were rich and authentic, and the freshness of the ingredients was evident in every bite. The Trout Fish, a local specialty, was a standout and an absolute must-try.

The combination of the delicious food, rustic charm, and breathtaking views made our visit truly unforgettable. Whether you’re a foodie or simply someone looking to enjoy a great meal in a serene environment, Fat Plate is the place to be. We highly recommend it to anyone visiting Manali—you won’t be...

Located about 5km from the main Manali bus stand, on Manali-Naggar road near Shuru. It is on the left side, beautiful location. The restaurant has garden blossoming with roses of every colour. Outdoor and indoor seating arrangements are there and both are great. The owner is a really sweet and helpful guy, usually seen inside the restaurant with a hat! I tried Mustard chili trout ( okayy in taste, not a big fan of mustard sauce), baked trout in lemon butter sauce (much better but a bit bland), chicken breast without wrapped bacon ( must must try if you love your meat), pasta white sauce ( could have been better), garden fresh salad ( too much ice berg, don't know why watermelon was in the salad) and fresh plum juice ( bit sweet but Himachal speciality, so must try). It's a bit overpriced I'd say. They take ONLY CASH OR PAYTM. NO CREDIT/DEBIT CARDS ACCEPTED. (Was unaware of this when I went, luckily had enough cash). Nearest ATM is a few metres away. It will take about 30-45 minutes from Manali city, so it's worth for the beautiful location but can be skipped for an average meal and high price. A lot of reviews said it serves the best trout in Manali. Certainly I don't agree.

Quite a famous cafe in & around Manali. Visited with high expectations for an afternoon lunch. The ambience is good (4/5), was seated in the garden area which was maintained very well. Beautiful flowers all around. The food was a slightly below expectations (3/5) when considering the price being charged. The chicken in both main courses dishes was a bit dry and chewy. Bacon in one them was just tough. Their sauces saved them though. Potato wedges were nice, served with a dip. Dessert (Banana Toffee) was barely above average. Service was fast and efficient (5/5) Overall 4/5, some of the cafes in old Manali serve better food so some scope for improvement.
