I have experienced places and then we randomly walked into this and honestly speaking the best every dinning experience if you ever imagined dinning in Italy looking at the landscape with breeze in your face and a view that is like a vangouh art work the staff welcomes u with such peace and warmth the interiors and the way they serve and suggest and treat makes u feel u came home i asked for a pizza for my child saw the bill they did not even charge me for the same honestly speaking my next trip to Manāli every again will be to experience the mountain story as this place is so hand crafted by the artist her self and the staff is going beyond their comfort zones to make you exp hospitality superb and 10/10 they just have a beautiful way and the place has a vibe which is addictive especially that Italian music the good food such beautiful interiors and then those smiling faces which are eager to make you smile ….. I can go on an on however would suggest if u wish to exp 10 star treatment and food that tastes so good that u go nostalgic u must step in here and rest I assure u will go speechless - thank you so much to the entire team behind a place that’s...

Terrible Experience – Completely Unprofessional and Rude Staff

We had an extremely disappointing experience at The Mountain Story, owned by Kangana Ranaut. Upon arrival, we were allotted a table by the receptionist. However, just five minutes later—and before even taking our order—we were abruptly commanded (not politely requested) to move to another table.

When we asked to be seated outside instead, considering almost all tables were visibly empty, we were told it wasn’t possible. If the table was already reserved, it should never have been given to us in the first place.

To make things worse, the waiter, Chetan, rudely refused to join two tables for us when we requested, displaying zero courtesy or willingness to help. The staff clearly lacks basic manners, professionalism, and hospitality.

No service, no respect, no accountability—just riding on the celebrity name of Kangana Ranaut. Absolutely not worth visiting. Avoid if you value good service and a pleasant...

I had the chance to visit Out of the Mountain Story, Kangana Ranaut’s beautifully curated restaurant in Manali, and it was such a unique experience. I ordered the Kulavi Thali, which turned out to be pretty good — authentic flavors, wholesome, and a true taste of Himachali tradition. Though the portion size felt a little smaller, the thali itself was delicious and left me satisfied. I tried Siddu as well and it was just perfect.

What makes this place truly special, however, is not just the food but the ambiance. The restaurant is designed like a heritage home — warm, rustic, and deeply rooted in local culture. It feels like a blend of old-world Himachali charm with a touch of elegance. Sitting there, you don’t just enjoy a meal, you get to experience the essence of the mountains, their history, and their stories.

We went here for dessert but ended up ordering dinner too. I ordered a choco lava cake with vanilla which they had put on the menu the same day so it was complimentary. I absolutely loved it. It was dark chocolate so a bit bitter but tasted excellent. The cheesecake which we tried wasn't great. None of my family truly enjoyed it. But nonetheless, the appearance of it was simply beautiful. For dinner we had a few butter rotis and tava rotis. They were also good. The atmosphere was amazing, straight out of a book. We took many selfies and enjoyed the place. The staff were incredibly kind and always ready to provide service. Overall the place is definitely worth it, especially for dinner. It's also right beside a few hotels making travel not so long either.

We had an amazing experience at The Mountain Story in Manali! We tried the Pahadi veg thali, shakes, siddu, and thukpa, and while everything was delicious, the siddu was simply out of this world—an absolute must-try! The ambiance is warm and inviting, with a true Himachali charm that sets it apart from the typical rustic cafés. It doesn’t try to bring Delhi or Punjab into Manali; instead, it beautifully celebrates the culture and traditions of Himachal. Kangana and her team were incredible hosts—gracious, courteous, and attentive, making the entire experience even more special. If you're in Manali, The Mountain Story is a must-visit! Spl thanks to Chaman and Chetan for taking care of us.
