My recent stay at Gaur Niwas was a delightful experience, with several aspects leaving a lasting impression. The hotel's interior design was elegant and well-crafted, creating a welcoming and sophisticated ambiance. This is a relatively hidden restaurant, unobtrusive and located behind the trendy Hot Spice Café. Located in an old, slightly untidy family mansion, it has a sprawling lawn and multiple options of indoor and outdoor seating. There's a dining hall on the ground floor, one on the first floor and several tables set under the old trees on the lawns. The food, however, is a disappointment. I ordered a hot chocolate, rajmah masala and roti. The hot chocolate was just about okay. The rajmah masala was incredibly bad. Overspicy, the gravy burned my throat and the beans were so soaked in spices, that I couldn't get the taste of rajmah. One should never say but they actually served bad food. Service was even worst. They take minimum 45-60 mins to serve food. We ordered chilli chicken, they served it with bone, its was not good. We ordered veg seekh kabab, it was even worst than chilli chicken (hard and cold). There were no cutlery on the table, no even salt n pepper or tissue napkins. Location and ambience was ok but their taste n service made our experience worse. At the end we asked to pack our leftover food, and to our surprise they 15 mins just to pack the food.
