The Hot Spice Café is in a great location, close to the Dussehra Grounds, the throbbing heart of Kullu. It's an open café with spacious lawns. The seating is in two sections - on the lawns, under sun umbrellas; and under a wooden roof with two sides open to the elements, good for rainy weather. The menu, of vegetarian and non-vegetarian items is extensive and designed for local taste and prices. It's very good value-for-money, and thronged by the local populace. It seems to be particularly popular among Kullu's young crowd. I ordered a vegetarian thali, and while the food and taste was ordinary, I can't complain, because at Rs.150 for two roti, rice, and four kinds of vegetables and lentils, it was a real good deal for a full stomach. On another day I ordered fresh lime soda and cold coffee. Neither was appealing, the fresh lime soda lacked lime and the cold coffe was just sweetish milk with barely any flavour of coffee.The restaurant invites you to linger under the trees and listen to yellow-billed starlings and jungle mynah singing above. Quality of food was not as expected. It was not value for money. I have multiple problems. Yesterday I ordered butter chicken and the packing was not up to mark above that quality was also not good. I suggest everyone reading this review to choose kebab junction or gaur niwas over hot spice. And my second problem is that food was not warm and they delivered it after 1 hour. Delivery man here is extremely lazy. He came to deliver it by foot due to which food was not hot as it takes more time to come by foot so I recommend the management to provide scooty for delivery man. Over it the dilivery guy took ₹40 delivery charges to deliver within a radius of 800 meters and for delivering food late. I highly recommend everyone reading this review not to go to this place as it sucks. Management though being polite is cunning too. One of the best restaurant in Kullu for Indian food. I ordered Veg thali from this place. They give you unlimited rice and roti for 120rs. The curry and subzi were also very tasty. There are semi indoor and outdoor seating available in this place. The staffs are also very friendly. The ambiance of the place is also very good which attracts a healthy crowd.
