I had high expectations for this restaurant, but unfortunately, the service and overall experience fell significantly short. Despite the restaurant being relatively empty—with only 3 occupied tables out of approximately 12-15—the service was shockingly slow and disorganized.
We had to wait an unusually long time for our biryani to arrive, and even basic requests like cutlery, tissues, or assistance were met with delays. The wait staff seemed inattentive, often disappearing entirely from the floor for minutes at a time. There were multiple instances where not a single staff member, including a manager, was present in the dining area—everyone had retreated to the kitchen simultaneously. This lack of oversight and customer service made for a frustrating dining experience.
As for the food, the biryani was quite average—far from the rich, aromatic dish one would expect from a place that claims to specialize in Hyderabadi and Nizami cuisine. The biggest disappointment, however, was the dessert section. The desserts (Double ka meetha, Qubani ka meetha) were shockingly subpar, lacking authenticity and flavor. If this restaurant prides itself on Hyderabadi cuisine, it certainly failed to deliver even the basics when it came to traditional sweets.
On a positive note, the starters were the only redeeming part of the meal. The prawns, pepper chicken, and hara bhara kebab were well-prepared and flavorful. However, good starters alone aren’t enough to make up for the overall experience.
To top it all off, when I tried to share my feedback, I reached out via the phone number listed online. I was connected to a manager who seemed uninterested in addressing concerns and was unwilling to provide any contact details for the owner.
Overall, this was a disappointing visit, and I cannot recommend this place to anyone. With poor service, mediocre main courses, and lackluster desserts, it’s certainly not worth the time or money. I won’t...
Read moreI had given them a 5 star rating previously for the very good biryani and semiya delight I had when I ordered them on Swiggy, but visiting the restaurant recently was a sheer disappointment. We went on a Sunday and they were not making bagara rice. No self respecting Hyderabadi restaurant should have bagara rice on the menu and not serve it. I was told it's only available on the week days with their thali which is a very lame excuse. The experience just went downhill from here.
We ordered Marag. What we received was some terrible cream of mutton soup. There was so much cream in it, it was anything but marag. The chaar koni naan served along with it was dry and tasted horrendous!
The tala hua gosht was good but it came with a gravy which was odd. The only saving grace during the meal was the luqmi which was excellent.
There was a picture of malai qubani kofta on their menu which looked interesting so we ordered it out of curiosity hoping to discover something interesting. But the dish which came to our table didn't look anything like it. It was pale and flavorless. The description of the dish in their menu was qubani kofta in a tomato and cashew gravy but there was no sign of any tomatoes in it.
Maybe go there for their biryani, luqmi and semiya delight but every thing else is a disaster. I hope they were just having a bad day without the manager around. I also suspect the main chef was not around on the day because the guy who came out of the kitchen to speak to us seemed...
Read moreMy recent visit to Deccan Kitchen left me thoroughly unimpressed. I was hoping for a delightful culinary experience, but unfortunately, it fell short in several ways.
First and foremost, the prices at Deccan Kitchen were exorbitant. I couldn't help but feel that I was paying a premium for a dining experience that simply didn't justify the cost. The menu items were overpriced, and when the food arrived, it didn't live up to the expectations set by the price point.
Speaking of the food, I found the taste to be lackluster at best. The flavors were muted, and the dishes lacked the depth and authenticity that one would expect from a restaurant claiming to serve Deccan cuisine. It was as though the chef had cut corners in both ingredients and preparation.
Furthermore, the service left much to be desired. The staff appeared disinterested and inattentive, which only added to the overall disappointment of the evening. It's disheartening when you're paying a premium for a dining experience, and you're met with lackluster service on top of mediocre food.
Overall, my visit to Deccan Kitchen was a letdown. The high prices, subpar taste, and lackluster service combined to create an underwhelming dining experience. I regret that I cannot recommend this restaurant, especially when there are far better options available at more reasonable prices...
