Been to this restaurant looking at the reviews. Now I know they are clearly inflated. Please note I don't usually give negative reviews unless I feel strongly about it.
Went there around 8 pm on a saturday. Ordered a take away as their dine was temporarily closed. Since it was the first time I had been there , I asked the owner to suggest non veg chicken and veg starters, and a veg fried rice. As per her suggestion , we ordered Dragon chicken and Honey Chilli Paneer starters, Veg Chilli Basil Fried rice.
Dragon Chicken - It is hyped up in the reviews. Chicken is very dry and the sauce is too plain , it almost tastes like eating dal without any chilli and salt, I have never eaten a tasteless chicken starter like this. Owner said this was the spicy dish they had.
Honey Chilli Paneer - Worst paneer starter I ever had. Paneer was literally stale , it almost smelled bad while opening the package. I expected the Honey and chilli sauce to have sweet and sour taste as suggested in the restaurant. Turns out , it tastes bitter. It left me with surprise how can any Chinese chef screw up paneer this bad.
Veg Chilli Basil Fried rice - No salt , oily, stale rice , but it is comparatively better than the starters.
Price and Quantity - Very expensive for the quantity and it being a local small road side restaurant.
To conclude , this restaurant serves below average chinese food. Be catious while spending your money here; Swagath a km away has got better...
Read moreThey had face uplift in recent times, which said one would expect a uplift in service too. However, it is the quite opposite in this case. I am a regular here and was proudly introducing this place to so many friends and relatives. The last visit however, left a bitter taste and my expectations have gone down from this place.
They used to carry a charm in the earlier days, the smile from the lady owner, the service and the taste which would compensate our long wait.
We checked for table availability and headed upstairs at 9.30 pm. But the gentlemen upstairs was sarcastic and was not interested in accommodating us. After a little requesting he gave us a table. We knew we were late so ordered very quickly but the food took longer to arrive. And even before we could enjoy the starters, the staff came asking for our last orders. We obliged and provided the order. The taste was relatively low with my past experiences and the portion quantity has considerably decreased. With all my expectations shattered we just ate what we ordered and left, with disappointment.
Pros: Better than other Chinese food courts available in this area Pricing is okay
Cons: Visibility - even though on main road, quite easy to miss Customer Service has significantly gone down Late service Taste is not as...
Read moreQuaint little restaurant a little off of Tarnaka metro station. Heard plenty of good things about this place, so I took the time to visit and grab some dinner.
The first thing you'd probably notice is probably how crowded the restaurant gets. This is exacerbated by the lack of adequate seating to cater to patrons. In most cases, there's a wait time before you can get to your table. Thankfully, the wait times are on the shorter. If you're in a crowd of 2-4 people, you should be okay.
The food is amazing. If you're looking for great fasting Chinese food in Tarnaka, this is the place to go. I recommend the Soya chilli wine noodles with a pairing of your choice. The momos were quite soft and tasted really good too. If you're looking to try new flavours and experiment a little, try the Oriental chicken from the starters menu.
Overall, I appreciate the fact that the food is central to the experience at Kim Fung. Too often we find resturants that sell the ambience while bundling it with lackluster food. This place is definitely an exception to this notion. I do wish that there was a bit more space since it does get crowded at...
