Punjabi Rasoi — Restaurant in Jammu and Kashmir

I recently visited it, located just opposite the Pahalgam taxi stand, and overall, the experience was pretty good — with just one major hiccup. The food here is affordable, tasty, and satisfying, making it a great choice for budget travelers or anyone looking for a fulfilling meal without burning a hole in the pocket.

The rajma chawal was undoubtedly the highlight for me — so comforting and flavorful that it really stood out. The rest of the meal was also enjoyable, and I appreciated the prompt service during lunch.

However, things took a disappointing turn when it came to dessert. I ordered two black softy ice creams, and to my surprise, it took over 30 minutes just to receive them. The delay was frustrating and honestly ruined the mood. While everything else about the meal was pleasant, this unnecessarily long wait for dessert overshadowed the otherwise good dining experience.

If they could just fix the ice cream service, I’d have no complaints. But as it stands, the dessert delay left a sour aftertaste to an otherwise affordable...

During my visit to Pahalgam, I dined at Punjabi Rasoi, expecting a comforting Punjabi meal. While the food did have a homely touch in terms of preparation style, the overall experience was a bit underwhelming. The Dal Makhani, unfortunately, was slightly sour, which affected the overall taste of the meal. The Chana Masala and other North Indian dishes were decent, but nothing exceptional stood out.

The flavours felt a bit muted, and while the food wasn’t overly oily, the freshness and richness I was hoping for were missing. It felt more like a quick meal stop than a memorable dining experience.

Another drawback was the long waiting time. The food took quite a while to arrive, and considering the taste and quality, it didn’t feel entirely worth the wait.

If you’re in Pahalgam and craving vegetarian North Indian food, Punjabi Rasoi is an option — but manage your expectations. The experience was just okay, and there’s definitely room for improvement in both flavour and...

During my recent trip to Pahalgam, I had the pleasure of dining at Punjabi Rasoi — and it was truly a delightful experience. The moment you step in, the warm and inviting ambiance gives you the perfect vibe to relax after a long day of sightseeing.

The food was absolutely delicious — authentic Punjabi flavors with the perfect blend of spices. From the buttery Dal Makhani to the rich Paneer Butter Masala and the soft, fresh rotis — everything tasted just like home-cooked food, full of flavor and love. Their tandoori items were perfectly cooked, and the portions were generous.

The staff was very courteous, attentive, and quick with the service, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Prices were also quite reasonable considering the quality and quantity of food.
