I visited this place after seeing a recommendation reel from a well-known food blogger in the city.
First of all, their service is painfully slow. We sat for around 12-15 minutes before the staff even noticed we were there, despite the fact that ours was only the second occupied table. This delay can't be attributed to any crowd or early hours, as we arrived at 10:15 AM (Sparrow’s opens at 8:00 AM and serves breakfast from 9:30 AM).
We ordered the "Scrambled masala paneer/grilled paneer, avocado sautéed vegetables, baked beans, hummus, hash browns, grilled tomatoes, toast with butter and jam," "Roast vegetable pesto & Parmesan," along with masala chai and a cappuccino. At any respectable restaurant, the food is typically served either before or along with the beverages. However, in this case, the cappuccino arrived 25 minutes after we ordered, the tea came 20 minutes after that, followed by the roast vegetable pesto 15 minutes later, and the platter 10 minutes after that.
While the coffee and tea were good, the roast vegetable pesto was disappointing—small in quantity and not worth the price. It came with three small pieces of toast and a cold (not even warm) hash brown. The platter was equally underwhelming: one toasted bread, scrambled paneer that tasted like last night's bland leftovers (without any salt), poorly seasoned grilled paneer, sour avocado, and dry hummus. They even forgot to include the hash brown that was supposed to come with the platter.
The only redeeming factor was the food presentation, for which I'd give 5 stars. Everything else barely deserves 2 stars.
Areas for improvement: service (they need to hire better-trained staff), taste, and...
