Cawnpore Kitchen — Restaurant in Kanpur

I again visited the restaurant hoping for the same taste and service but a lot has changed since my last visit 3 years back.

The food was horrible. Dal rakhni was prepared so sweet that I had to dump a lot of salt and pepper in it to bring the taste back to normal.

Paneer was also not good.

Tandoori Roti's were very hard and had burned and holes in it.

They have also downsized the portions but kept the same rates.

Felt like cheated this time hence downgrading the rating to 2 stars now.

Service was very slow.

Previous experience:

I have dined in quite a few restaurants in Kanpur in last 7 years but this one takes the award in terms of ambience, service and taste.

The ambience is quite awesome and niche. Entire staff is well trained, polite and professional.

Now, coming to food, the quantity of every dish is enough for 2-3 people.

I did not have nonveg so will stick to review the taste of veg food only.

The taste was superb. There was a good balance of spices and the ingredients were fresh. Tandoori Rotis were thin and soft, made of whole wheat and did not have maida as it happens in a lot of other restaurants.

Desserts were again superb. Especially, the thandi kheer. I have never had such a tasty kheer in a restaurant.

All in all, a very good experience and the entire staff deserves a pat on the back because of quick service and professional and polite behaviour.

Very very bad and poor experience ac is not working,worst experience I ever had in terms of service .Even service of a dhaba is much better than this restaurant the staff could n even provide water n glasses to the guest up to 25 minutes after arrival I had to get up n ask for cuttlery,tissue, glasses , salad etc.again n again and then to they were not able to provide sufficient amount for just 12 people on the table .I had to face embarassment in front of my guests whom I had taken along to dine with just because of the horrible management of the restaurant.the so called manager was so busy on a busy Sunday night that he didn't have the time to listen u. to the humble request of his customers to provide them with adequate service . that He didn't realise by himself to take an initiative to instruct the staff to manage the things properly. I had to ask him to do so again n again. Despite of having a pre-booking with a preset order at the restaurant we got our first thing served after one hour of reaching. We would have left the restaurant at once if we hadn't prebooked it.. What more to say in praise... A big 👎👎... Absolutely...

Worst experience, Very very bad behaviour by the receptionist/Manager.

We have been told to wait for 10_15mints whereas bcz of their poor management they kept on waiting for 45 mints.

After that whn we got the table there was no one to even clean the that dirty tables.

There were 6_7 waiter but no one was there to tell them what to do or hat not to do ......just everything at Ur Luck.

Hospitality --- I think they don't know there is something like that which is an essential element for any good restaurant.

Services ---- Waited 45 mnts out side. --- Waited 20 mnts to clean the table. ---Waited another 15 mnts for water but no reaction. Drinking water was not provided.

Behaviour --- When we discussed these issues with the Manager/receptionist he cracked a SUPER JOKE...😀 _ MUJHE OR BHI KAAM HAI...( As IPL was going on his over head in big LCD )

Finally came back with huge humiliation.

Recommendations 1_ if U hv time to waste 2_ if U don't any self respect 3_ if hv money to waste Go for the so called Cawnpore kitchen.

Kanpur Ka Naam...
