An Unpleasant Experience at Chettai's Restaurant

Rating: ★☆☆☆☆ (1/5)

I recently dined at Chettais, hoping to enjoy a pleasant meal. However, my experience at this establishment was incredibly disappointing and, quite frankly, revolting. Not only did the food taste dreadful, but it also caused severe gastrointestinal distress, leading to vomiting and loose motions. Regrettably, I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Upon entering, the ambiance at Restaurant seemed inviting and trendy. The service was prompt, and the waitstaff appeared friendly and attentive. Despite initial positive impressions, it all went downhill once the food arrived.

Sadly, the dining experience took a turn for the worse as a few hours later; I began experiencing severe nausea and intense stomach discomfort. The subsequent vomiting and relentless loose motions were unbearable. Not only was this a challenging experience physically, but it also caused substantial inconvenience and embarrassment.

The distressing aftermath of the meal strongly indicates that the ingredients used by Chettai's were either of poor quality or improperly handled. The lack of professionalism and attention to food safety is concerning and unacceptable.

In conclusion, my experience at Chettai's Restaurant was utterly disappointing. The poorly prepared and questionable quality of the food led to severe gastrointestinal distress, including vomiting and loose motion. I strongly advise potential diners to steer clear of this restaurant, as it fails to meet even the basic expectations of quality...

The first thing you notice when you enter the place is how simple and beautiful it looks. It's not overly designed. The place is very clean. Given the soaring temperature these days, we opted for the A/C area. We were greeted by friendly staff and the people who served us were very courteous too. We started with Cream of Chicken soup. The soup is very creamy and tastes very different from what I have had so far and I really loved it. For starters we tried the famous BDF, crispy on the outside and soft and juicy meat inside. The masala was perfect too. Half portion should be enough for 3 people. We also ordered pineapple chicken, while the chicken itself was good, the pineapple flavour doesn't really go well with the chicken tbh, so won't recommend it. The Appam were quite good and we tried it with Chicken chatti Varutharach (I may be wrong about the name), it's fried chicken cooked in a curry and served in an earthen vessel. Goes well with Appam. Next up was Meat Biryani, soft rice with the right spices and served with a good quantity of meat. Instead of dessert, we opted for some freshly made Pazham Pori and Pazham Pori with stuffing (can't recall the name) and lovely chaya or tea. For someone who loves Kerala food, I really liked this place. Everything from ambience, service and food, the place ticks all the right boxes in my opinion. Probably the best Kerala food in Mysore, at least among the places I've tried....

Worst experience I had in the 1 year I’ve been coming to this place. It was so bad that I deleted my previous positive reviews (which the staff asked me to put up). They pick and choose who to provide good service to, and who to treat badly. We were there for almost 10 minutes before anybody even came to take our order, even though at least 2 families came after us and their orders were taken promptly. Then they served people who ordered meals after us first. I had to ask 2 times to be served rice. They gave cold almost empty sambar vessel and didn’t even bother to serve it. I asked for more sambar and they reluctantly gave it. I was given very very less quantity of sides, and I thought it was all because sides and sambar was over. But people who ordered after us were given more than enough sides. They took our water bottle also in the middle of our meal. Food was really worst, fish was completely spoilt and tasted horrible. Do not ever visit this place if you are a student, or as a group of young people because these staff think you won’t complain about anything and will give you the worst service. And also the lady at the counter was arrogantly speaking in Malayalam only even after my friend said he doesn’t understand it. It’s basic courtesy to at least speak in English if you can’t speak Kannada. Do not visit this place if you don’t want to be shown unnecessary attitude and...

On a Sunday in Mysore, I stumbled onto this establishment while looking for Kerala food. A restaurant that makes good dining arrangements. There is plenty of seating, a clean restroom, an air-conditioned dining hall, and other amenities. But, in addition to the worst cuisine I've ever eaten, the restaurant had an overabundance of inexperienced workers. There aren't many Kerala eateries in Mysore, therefore the few ones will be crowded on Sundays. Its experienced management needs to work with a little more workers, at least on Sundays. I ordered a meal and waited about an hour and a half for it. The initial order was cancelled and informed by personnel after half an hour, and I then placed another order, which was served an hour later. Thankfully, they had retained a mineral water bottle, which helped to quell my hunger. Do not try their "chattichor," which is their remarkable cheating by giving some rice and placing it in a mud pot with some rice. You feel nothing while eating that stuff because it has no taste. I would never recommend this place to anyone, particularly on Sundays.

During my recent visit to Mysore, I had the pleasure of indulging in the local Kerala cuisine, and it was nothing short of exceptional. The food was a true testament to the culinary richness of Kerala, with flavors that were both authentic and tantalizing. Each dish was prepared with care, showcasing the traditional spices and ingredients that make Kerala’s food so distinctive. But it wasn’t just the food that made the experience memorable; the atmosphere of the eatery added to the charm. The warm and inviting ambiance made me feel right at home, and the service was impeccable. The staff was attentive and courteous, ensuring that every aspect of the dining experience was enjoyable. In summary, if you find yourself in Mysore with a craving for Kerala cuisine, you’re in for a treat. The combination of delicious food, a welcoming atmosphere, and excellent service makes for a dining experience that you won’t soon forget.
