On the way to Virajpet Coorg we stopped at Gonikoppal and found this restaurant called ‘Cuisine Papera’ serving traditional Kodava veg and non-veg food. In fact, this was the second time we stopped to dine here. It is located on the 3rd floor of a shopping arcade which also houses the ‘More Superstore’ and some vehicle spare parts shops. Parking is available in the compound.||||We had to climb the staircase up to the restaurant, and it was very well decorated with traditional Kodava tools, utensils, and agricultural implements and weavers crafts.||||The menu had many Kodava dishes, including pork, fish, chicken and mutton as well as vegetarian dishes. Once we tried their local fish fry, which I think was called Angel Fish. On the second occasion we dined on Mughlai Kadai Paneer with naan and roti. The taste was very good and peppery, as this spice is grown in the local plantations and they make liberal use of it. Black pepper used to be called the black gold of this region. Of course, you can request them to put less of it in your dish.||||Service was good and courteous, and the prices were quite reasonable. At the end of your meal they served some betel leaves, cut areca nut, fennel and some sugar coated digestives so that we could make our own complimentary ‘paan’.||||‘Papera Inn’ located above the restaurant houses 20 rooms where you can stop for the night, and they also run a home stay at Nelji village where you can enjoy a...

I don't generally give out 1-star reviews but this place deserves it. We went around 2PM for lunch and it was crowded but we got a table. It started with the staff pushing my chair as they walked in between the tables. That was okay and we started to order. We got our first order of a starter and then akki otti and the smoked pork curry. Later we ordered fresh lime juice and another starter because we were still hungry. Despite waiting for 15 minutes, these dishes never arrived. Reminded the waiting staff/manager twice and he'd just say "aiyyo" and run off the kitchen. Another 30 minutes and nothing came. We were half full, our hands dry from the previous dish we finished 40 minutes ago. One of the staff even took away our tissues to give someone who they cleared were treating as a VIP (that person was nice enough to send it back saying what will they do if you give me this box).

At the billing counter, when we reached to cancel that order they kept asking me our table number which wasn't mentioned anywhere on the table and gave us the wrong bill (with all the orders that never came). Only after I pointed it out did the lady at the counter change the bill. In all this, the manager ran off to the kitchen and never came back. No apology nothing. We left with half stomach. Traveling 30km to eat this meal wasn't worth it.

It has taught me to never trust a youtube review of...

Cuisine Papera is one of the most delightful restaurants I have visited. The food here is truly delicious, prepared with authentic flavors and served fresh. Every dish has the right balance of taste and presentation, making it a memorable dining experience. But what sets Cuisine Papera apart is not just the food, but the ambience and atmosphere of the restaurant. The moment you step in, you are welcomed by a beautiful view that instantly lifts your mood. The surroundings are calm, pleasant, and ideal for enjoying a relaxed meal with family or friends. The interiors are uniquely designed and filled with antique pieces on every wall, giving the restaurant a very special charm. It almost feels like stepping back in time. The old artifacts and décor remind you of your childhood days, and you can’t help but feel nostalgic as you look around. This thoughtful design makes dining here not just about food, but also about reliving memories. Overall, Cuisine Papera is a perfect combination of tasty food, beautiful ambience, and a touch of heritage. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys good food with a unique dining experience. I would definitely love to visit again.

Cuisine Papera is a hidden gem along the route to Madikeri/Coorg. We stopped here for lunch a couple of weeks back and were extremely happy with the place. The food was top notch, and the service was warm and inviting. The wait staff was extremely patient with our somewhat noisy group, and regularly checked in on us to ensure that we were taken care of. Also, did I mention that the food was delicious? If you do happen to be in the area, this is worth checking out. As others have pointed out, there are various historical artifacts that adorn this restaurant. If you are a history buff, it is worth checking some of these out while you wait for your meal. Pork curry is a major delicacy in this part of the country, and Cuisine Papera does justice to it with their interpretation of the dish. Spicy pork curry with a nice chilled bottle of beer is a match made in heaven - do not miss! The mousse at the end was the icing on the cake - another surprise that I had to desperately make room for! This was an endeavor that was well worth it! :-D My family and I will definitely visit this establishment again when we are in the neighborhood.
