So, I walked into Ithikala Restaurant dreaming of that authentic banana leaf feast ( as they advertised , the first miguide ) — only to be greeted by... a betel-nut leaf plate! (Close enough? Not really. My banana leaf dreams slipped faster than their watery buttermilk 😅).
The spread was decent for a ₹200 buffet: chapati, roti, akki rotti, puliyogare, sweet pongal, three curries, tomato chutney, drumstick sambar, rasam, curd, buttermilk, and fryums — basically, a South Indian rollercoaster with a few bumps on the way.
Food check:
Akki rotti – more like yoga mat edition 🧘♂️ Chapati – slightly rubbery but still in the game. Jolada rotti – the MVP of the meal. Sambar – tasted like spicy water with an identity crisis. Even another customer nodded in agreement, so I knew it wasn’t just me! Buttermilk – thinner than my patience by the end.
Positives: ✅ Huge parking space. ✅ Friendly staff with genuine smiles. ✅ Self-service setup (good for the young, confusing for the elderly). ✅ Value for money – can’t complain much at ₹200.
Would I go again? Nope, once was enough. Would I recommend others? Sure, if you’re nearby and curious. Otherwise, keep it as your “Plan B buffet.”

Overall: Come for the experience, stay for the smiles, and maybe carry your own banana...
