Old Sagar Benne Dose Hotel (The Original) — Restaurant in Karnataka

Worst quality !! 1 plate Benne (Butter) Dosa consists of 2 pcs medium in size, we went searching for this shop or hotel or canteen whatsoever thinking we must try their authentic original Dosa only to get disappointed.. Dosa was not at all good and 1 plate cost was ₹ 120/- we had ordered 3 plates costed us INR 360/-.. Absolutely not worth spending so much.. Somehow we finished dosa and ordered tea but again we repented for ordering.. We found hair in tea and I informed at the counter.. Tea costed 10 each we had ordered only 2 cups .. The person at the counter waived off ₹20/- as he himself saw the hair floating in the glass... Seriously we went with lots of hope... Trust me, it's not worth it at all... They have five Sagar Benne (Butter) Dosa shops on the same lane, all of 'em belong to the...

This restaurant was not our original choice to try famous dosa. However we ended up eating here and the experience was not that bad. The dosa was good and tasty. Don't know about the history of this restaurant, however we saw three restaurant in the same road with similar names. The one was called old Sri Sagar and the one we tried was called just Sri Sagar. The restaurant was crowded when we visited around 8:30 pm. We waited few minutes to get seats. Service was quick. On the negative side, the restaurant lacks hygiene, you need to wash your hands on the road. The restaurant is not wheelchair friendly. Davangere Benne Dosa Old Sri Sagar. Crisp Benne (Butter) Dosa with Aaloo and chutney is a must try and this shop makes the combo even better with mild spicy chutney, unlike other places I tried around where chutney will be usually bland. But my fav here is the thick and fluffy Khali (plain) dosa served fresh with Aaloo and chutney. And two 'shots' of tea in the end to settle things up, as one cup will not satisfy the tea lover in you, given the size of the tea-cup.

Place is small and usually packed. Service is fast enough and you'll not have to wait for long to grab a seat. Alternate Road-side parking...
