After reading great reviews, stopped by this place for lunch on the way to Goa. This restaurant is family run and I saw ladies cooking the meals in the kitchen. This place has 2 sections, ground floor catering mostly to the local crowd or regulars and 1st floor which is air-conditioned catering to families or occasional visitors preferring better comforts. Food (5/5) - We ordered 2 fish meals, 1 with Chanak fish & the other with Surmai (Seer/King) fish and a separate Surmai Rawa fry for the kid. The fish meal is absolutely delicious. Generally in meals, the fish is the star and the rest of the items are just added to make it a meal but here this is not the case. In the meal you get brinjal/eggplant masala, mussels cooked with coconut, fish curry(with some sardine pieces), and the fish fry. Every item was delicious and we were pleasantly surprised how they tasted. Fish fry was very juicy with the right amount of spices and tasted different. Service (1/5) - The service here is non-existent. We sat on the 1st floor and there was only one person attending and you literally need to beg to him(pun intended) to give the menu or take our orders. No replies if you ask for any recommendations or ask what does an item on the menu means. I literally went down and asked at the billing counter about the restroom. After asking maybe 10 times, the guy (most probably the owner) responded and directed me to a place around the building on the backside and that place should be avoided. So anyone planning a stop over with a toilet break while passing through Karwar should be aware of this. There is no restroom within the restaurant. I would have rated this place 5/5 only for food but the service experience takes out 2 points. Also the prices are not that cheap. I would recommend this place only for their food and nothing fancy. Next time I am around Karwar, would head to this place as I already know...
Read moreWorst service ever..We reached the place around 2 pm ..went there cuz so many good reviews and good rating.. But after we reached there ,had to wait for 45 min that too with an infant to just go get a seat inside .. staff with no sense of management of time or people.. didnât even inform whether there are seats, when can we go inside, there is not even a seating arrangement for people waiting .. when they hardly have space inside their ac room.. hardly 8 dining sofas Donât even get me started on the food, firstly pathetic service by the staff⌠the guy wonât take the order , gave us menu after 10 mins then had to call him more than twice to make him take our order..almost felt like he didnât want us to eat only.. ( I know sounds funny but it was that bad) in their veg meal paratha was undercooked, rice was undercooked.. non veg meal fish was undercooked.. so i dont even know why this place is hyped..itâs overpriced, very poor service, no time management , food is not good .. just go there at your own risk⌠you need around an hour to wait outside their homely restaurant to get food and service that is going to make...
Read moreThe last time I tried the food at Swetha it was little disappointing. We ordered silver fish rava fry, prawns butter garlic, nagli masala, bangda mastani, sol kadi, veg pulav and lime soda. The only dish that was good was veg pulav. Rest all had some issues with the dish. Silver fish rava fry was too salty, nagli masala half cooked, bangda mastani was overcooked. I have had better solkadi. The taste varies person to person and I understand that everyone will have different perspective and likes, but overcooked or undercooked dishes are pure negligence. Swetha has had a good reputation and I have had bangda fry several times from this restaurant and was never disappointed in the past, which is why I'm giving 3 stars. That particular day it could have been due to some negligence and due to lot of crowd. I would wish you keep your quality in every dish that comes out of your kitchen and bring smile on your...
