We had done our hotel booking through MMT and had request for early check-in. We were neither contacted by the MMT team nor by Hotel that early check-in would not be possible. We reached the hotel at 8:15 AM, after an overnight bus journey, and were told that we could not check in early by the lady sitting at the reception (Venessa) who also made us feel uncomfortable in lots of ways. First, she was continuously staring at our faces (Not sure why). Then she said check-in is at 2:00 PM. We were shocked, we said we had given our special request while booking on which she took out a two page print out booking voucher from MMT and started showing us that there is no special request. I am not sure why she was trying to prove that it was all our fault. Second, she started speaking with her co-worker in her regional language. I am not sure what they were talking about but another guest who was standing there started laughing listening to their conversation and when she realized that the other guest knows the language they started talking and laughing looking at us. I don't know what they were talking, good or bad. But it really made me feel very uncomfortable. Third, When we asked if their was any way she could give us a room now, she directly said No. Then when we said that we are ready to pay extra charges, she immediately said Yes. If rooms were not available and they were fully booked then how come a room was available with extra charges! In front of us, 4 guests had checked out, so we knew for sure that rooms were available.
I accept that such kinda miss can happen if you are doing reservations from a third party. But being in hospitality business she could have been a little more polite, professional and empathetic. I mean we had done an over night journey to reach the hotel, at least she could have shown a lil courtesy and asked if we wanted to use restroom/washroom or get freshen up or want tea, coffee, water, etc... Even if she would have said that she would try and check what can be done instead of a direct No, we would have been fine.
Finally after 10 PM, Amit, the GM of the hotel arrived and within minutes we got the room. And within an hour all the issues were resolved. When we met him, he understood our situation and asked us to take some rest and that we could speak later with him as we were tired. That really made us feel very comfortable. Rest all other experience during my short stay over here was absolutely amazing.
Food at the restaurant "Flavors" was amazing. Staff - Everyone was very friendly, helpful and always smiling. Room - Neat, clean and comfortable.
I would have rated this hotel 5 out of 5 if I have not had my first encounter with Venessa...

Spotless washrooms.||Service: I consider that their USP is that everyone attends to customers with a smile on the face. Many bigger hotels lack this aspect. We stayed for 3 nights. Service was quick most of the times. Though a couple of times there was a mistake/delay in room service we never felt the need to complain due to their apologetic and customer centric attitude and the smile on the face - right from the owner, manager, receptionists to the house keeping and room service staff.||||We had booked 2-3 months in advance for 3 nights and had requested for an early check-in (9 am). Their regular check-in time is 2 pm. However, they had promised me that they would arrange for the early check-in if the room is available. They kept their promise. Also during check-out my check-out time was extended till 3 pm as against 11 am on my request. ||Food: Certainly one of the best restaurants in town - it is called Flavours. Prices are justifiable - service is quick and the chef seems to be an expert in all kinds of cuisines. The butter chicken (though very buttery!) was one of the best I've had till date. Naans are very soft. Cannot go wrong with dosas! Also, Mangalore buns are worth a mention. ||Scope of improvement: Please try individual water heaters rather than centralized - lot of water gets wasted everyday till we...
