I am giving one star only for the place where it’s situated and for the scenic beauty around it. Went to this place after reading nice google reviews, had some expectations but I don’t know whether it was because of off season(we went on May) or the quality of service is that poor. The tables were not cleaned and ants were there everywhere and when asked to clean the lousy waiter asked us to sit in other table. The food was below average, I was shocked by the cutlery which they provided which was not washed( photo enclosed). The whole attitude of the working staff there was a let down, they all looked lazy and didn’t wanted any customer at that time I guess. Overall Had a very bad experience, May be this place was excellent in the beginning or we just visited on a bad day!! They need a massive makeover or else they may have to shut it down soon which is a shame because the location is just awesome!! As I got a reply to my review which is is below, MR. Management either you mistook me for other group of bachelors or your staff have told a big lie when you enquired or this is just your tactics to put a negative mark on your customers who are not satisfied. I visited your place with my family (wife, kid n my parents) on May 18th 2019, no way on earth I will abuse other woman buddy or I would drink alcohol in front of family early morning 😅, your “female” staff was not at all interested in doing her duty, she was making faces and was very lazy, if you want your passion to continue better fire her!! Kindly try to take criticism in a positive way so that your beautiful establishment can improve. I am not one of the customers who write a bad review just because they didn’t get what they wanted in their way. And those spoon n fork were provided to me that day I have posted the pic also, now if you want to be in denial it’s your wish but...
Read moreThe worst experience during our visit. We had such high expectations considering the rating, however it didn't live up to the expectations. We saw the menu and decided to order - Pizza, Noodles, Paneer Chilli, Burger Combo and Lemon soda. To which they said they have nothing left except the snacks (burger, sandwich, starters, etc). So we all ordered 6 Veg Burger combos and 2 baby corn chilli. For cooking a burger they just need to prepare the tikki and other ingredients are almost least stressful. And the order was very simple, still they took approx 40-45 mins. Who serves an order this late?
In the burger, there was 1 tikki, cabbage (in place of lettuce), big pieces of capsicum and NO CHEESE. They had an option of adding cheese, but who expected that there won't be any cheese in a burger? Then they had fries in the combo, which was just 4 pieces of french fry per plate. And then for the cold drink, we asked for Mirinda, to which they gave us the same bottle which you get if you buy the same in a general store at Rs 20. The colddrink was NOT EVEN IN A GLASS. Also, the baby corn chilli was very moderate and even though we ordered 2 plates. They served both plates at a gap of around 30 mins at least. Why couldn't they cook 2 plates of baby corn chilli at once? One plate quantity wasn't even as adequate as they couldn't prepare it in one pan.🙂🙃
Without any doubts aesthetics and location was the only good thing about the visit.
FYI: They were also out of lemon for the Lemon Soda. 1 star only because they fed us as we...
Read moreI have been here twice. First visit was an accidental discovery and the second was intentional, all the way from Bangalore just to have lunch at this place. It’s not just the food here, but the experience of eating at the Estate Cafe that swooned me. I can't vouch for the veg dishes, but non-veg (starters especially) are really good here. I hope they have fish when you visit, because pomfret fry over here is really worth a try (they didn't have it the second time I visited). As a close second, you can alternatively order the pepper chicken (dry). I've also ordered babycorn Manchurian, alas the chef added too much ketchup and turned it into a dessert item. For the sake of simplicity in main course, jeera rice and dal fry are the best here. Nevertheless, do visit the place for the experience. You park your car at the edge of a (ok, not very high) hill, and walk into a restaurant designed for aristocratic estate owners who would come with their entire family to have evening snacks by the campfire and artificial heater, while playing a game of snookers and munching on (hopefully) pepper chicken dry. The view from and around this place is amazing. The coffee served here is just OK, but try purchasing a 500g packet of their estate filter coffee powder and prepare it at home for an equally exquisite Chikmagalur...
