WORST EXP: - I am a regular customer @Manipal Inn (Restaurants). Had been to Udupi Rasoi with my family & guest (who had visited Udupi). While placing the order, we asked for suggestion from a captain who mentioned that he would suggest best food. We had soup (which was as per ordered). As we were 7 +2 (kids), we asked for veg platter (as a starter), on which he mentioned that he would make one such & serve us. Also, he served us with 2 portion of masala papad (we never ordered). When food arrived we had got 2 portion of Mushroom Tikka, 2 Potions of Paneer Uruval & 2 portion of Baby Corn tikka. (For 7+2 ppl the order was too much). As per my understanding we were expecting platter having sufficient starter for 7+2 ppl. Here it was never intimated to us that he has ordered 2 portion each of 3 different dishes. While having main course, he served us with a plat of salad {Cartos, Tomatoes & Cucumber }. (we never ordered & thought that it is the gesture which each guest gets). The point here is not to point out on hotel as I LOVE FOOD QUALITY @MANIPAL INN, but the service which such captain gives makes the exp worst. I did not argued while making the payment as we had taken our guest there & did not wanted to create a wrong situation. When I was at parking, he did came to see off us, & slowly by taking him aside I informed him that he has cheated us. On which he did not apologies also (I did not expect that but can showcase a persons character). The person who serve the guest must take permission during the suggestion that he is making such additions. It was possible for us to afford the bill which had come upto 3.5k, but some ppl who save & wants to have food at the hotel restaurant, may not turn up again if he/she face such situation. This can be a loss of the hotel & not the person who is a captain. Suggestion must be given, by informing the guest & taking their understanding. He did reached out to my all family members to sharing exp by mentioning his name specifically on which i mentioned would share later. Hope Manipal Inn management would look into it that it would repeat again. Additionally, we were disappointed by the lackadaisical manner in which the food was presented on the table, indicating a disregard for proper service and presentation. In the last week of December I went there for lunch @2 PM with my family (we are four plus one kid). It took them one hour to allocate a table and the unfair part was they did allocate table based on first come first serve and they tried to engage bigger families first. After allocating table @3 PM they didn't come to my table till 3:30 to take order and I had to run behind them to order. At 4PM I had to leave the place as they were not updating my order and they were giving importance and catering only bigger families.
Very bad experience. Wanted to talk to manager but realised that he does multiple jobs there, HE TAKES ORDER, SERVES ORDER, CLEANS TABLE, BILLING, ALLOCATES TABLE (bigger families first), Rest time he spends in the kitchen (I doubt, he is part of KITCHEN COOKING AND CLEANING STAFF as well). There are two other supporting guys to the manager in that one person was exclusive to foreign customers and other was following foot steps of their manager that is spending time in kitchen.
Irony was, I waited @4 PM for 10 mins to talk to their manager about delay but he didn't show up in next 15 mins (Should have been busy with kitchen chores) and I had to leave.
Go there, if you want to demonstrate poor management lesson to anyone. Ensure to go there only after having food.
