If somebody mention about ‘Balaramapuram’ from an outstation location, the next immediate query would be about BISMI Hotel! The mouthwatering taste of ‘mutton pirattu’ might have come to other person’s mind all of a sudden along with the name Balaramapuram.
BISMI Hotel is famous for mutton’s different varieties – curry (spicey), pirattu, fry and njalli. Njalli is nothing but a dish cooked only with mutton bones mixed with a unique curry. In it, no meat will be there. High demand is always for mutton pirattu only - so tasty! If you have not tried Bismi yet, try the pirattu first. Along with Perotta, Puttu, Appam, Dosa and sometimes Urattti too. I won’t recommend the Perotta there as I always felt it’s a bit hard and dry and not at all soft too. Chicken fry and curry is there again. Fry is nice if go for that variety.
Mutton varieties are available from breakfast time onward and Biriyani (Mutton & Chicken), Meals with fish varieties are available for lunch.
Another high demanding item is ‘mutton soup’ and it’s available at evenings only.
Hotel’s location is on the very beginning of Vizhinjam Road at Balaramapuram Junction. It’s across from the Police Aid Post there. Because of its strategic location, there’s No Parking slot for any vehicle, including two wheelers! (Two wheelers are seen inserted by the roadside and in front of other shops beside the hotel)
There is a signboard of hotel by the road and if you miss it, you might feel difficult to locate the hotel. See the pics.

Read moreFood is generally good over here and we very much like the mutton dishes but we always only did take away packets, when ever we visit India from Dubai. Though we live in Trivandrum, we take pain to either go to Balaramapuram to take parcels or drop into this place enroute to Nagercoil or Kanyakumari. But this time a visit with family for dine in totally disappointed in terms of food taste and most importantly the atmosphere and cleanliness inside the family room. More over to our shock the supplier was untidy and shabby and used his bare hands to serve the dishes etc and even touched on top of the dishes with his fingers while he was serving. And when the door of the family room was opening and closing as the suppliers came in and went out, the bad odor of the bathroom near the wash area was coming into the family room which really put us off. The servers or suppliers not using and changing gloves while serving dishes etc was shock to us, as it had been a strict practice in every decently operated restaurant that gloves is a part of hygiene measures. Never I will go with family here as my family was greatly disappointed. The hotel management should look into the cleanliness and hygiene standards of this unit, specially since Bismi is getting popular even in much distant places, because of the popular mutton dishes. So please take this criticism positively and adopt measures to improve and rectify your flaws...
Read moreWe visited Bismi Hotel after reading several positive reviews about their famous mutton dishes, but unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. I tried their Mutton Biriyani, Mutton Perattu with Idiyappam, and Mutton Soup. Sadly, none of the dishes met expectations. The Mutton Biriyani (₹250) was a total disappointment— it came with four small pieces of mutton, which felt more like random parts than proper cuts. The rice and masala were bland and lacked the richness you'd expect from a good biriyani. The Mutton Perattu (₹180) was equally disappointing. The meat was tough and chewy, and the overpowering smell of coriander (malli) masked any real mutton flavor. It just didn’t taste like a mutton dish at all. The Mutton Soup was the worst of the lot. It was extremely watery with no aroma or flavor of mutton — easily one of the most unsatisfying soups I’ve had in a long time. Overall, none of the dishes had the authentic taste or quality expected from a restaurant known for mutton. It was a total letdown for us. However, the service was polite and professional, which is the only positive I...
