SPR Family Restaurant — Restaurant in Kerala

We took a drive down to a nursery in Balaramapuram, and on our way back, we decided to stop by S P R Restaurant. There’s parking available inside the compound, but it was full when we arrived. Luckily, we found a spot just outside. An auto-rickshaw driver who had just finished his meal at the restaurant kindly knocked on our window and offered us his parking space as he was leaving — such a warm and thoughtful gesture that made us feel welcome right away. The security staff also assisted us in parking carefully so our tyres wouldn’t scrape the shop’s steps, which we really appreciated.

The road in front is quite narrow for a highway, and we hope it gets widened in the near future. That said, we parked and headed in. The restaurant was packed, and we initially thought we’d have to wait. But after washing our hands and waiting for a bit, one of the waiters found us two seats, and we were seated opposite a couple already enjoying their meal.

We ordered one mutton roast with idiyappam. As we started eating, we noticed the couple across from us were enjoying a delicious-looking dish with bone marrow curry. One bite into our mutton roast, and we immediately knew we had to order more. We ended up ordering another mutton curry, followed by another plate of mutton roast. The taste was just that good!

In the end, we also ordered two mutton roasts and two mutton curries as takeaway. It was a memorable afternoon, filled with great food and warm service. Thank you to the team at S P R for the lovely experience — we’re definitely looking forward to...

I recently visited SPR restaurant in Balaramapuram and unfortunately, my experience was not a pleasant one. I had heard good things about this restaurant and was looking forward to trying their food, but I was extremely disappointed.

I decided to order a parcel and I must say, it was a big mistake. When I opened the parcel, I was greeted with a strong smell of stale food.

I had ordered iddiyappam and to my disappointment, it was not well cooked. It was just plain dough and lacked any flavor. I could barely eat it and ended up throwing most of it away.

The overall quality of the food was very poor and I could not believe that this was the same restaurant that I had heard so much about.

I was extremely disappointed with my experience at SPR restaurant in Balaramapuram. I had high expectations but unfortunately, they were not met. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone and I will definitely not be visiting again. It was a complete waste of money and I regret trying their food.

I hope the management takes notice of these issues and improves the quality of their food and service. As a customer, I expect to receive good food and service when I visit...

29 Feb 2020 Went there again today. Great experience again. Veg meals, chicken biriyani, netholi fry - all excellent. And best part is the attitude of the people there - from parking attendant to waiter to the counter person - all are welcoming. Truly great place.

Good - tasty food, not high price. Went there twice and had the standard veg meals myself. The no of curries and taste was really good - for a 'famous for non-veg' restaurant, the veg meals was really great. My wife, mom and others had chicken, prawns etc and they were very happy. Pricing though not very low, it is not high also. I will say value for money.

OK - the ambiance and service. We can't blame or expect more. This is a quick customer turn around restaurant in the middle of the market - not a fancy or fine dining place.

Bad - parking. The restaurant can;t do much, as I mentioned it's right in the middle of Balaramapuram market and primarily targeting the people working/shopping in the market. So really can't consider this as a very...
