Fish Bites is a newly opened eatery in the Marathakkara area. It is located on the main road of Ernakulam- Thrissur NH 544, just opposite to Smart Residency hotel. I have been here recently to check out their few dishes.
As the name says, this eatery mainly accentuates seafood dishes, especially fish, prawns, squid, etc. The menu features a good collection of dishes, primarily emphasizing different dishes in fish. The entire menu is categorized into the following sections.
(1) Soups (2) Seafood starters (3) Main course ( Fish dishes) (4) Al-faham (5) Rice and Noodles ( mainly fish items) (4) Seafood grill collections (5) Shawarmas (6) Beef (7) Mojitos (8) Juices (9) Teas (10) Shakes. Please check the menu card for more details. Along with this, they also provide Fish Biriyani and prawns biriyani too. However, it is not mentioned on the menu card.
Place:
The place is good and well maintained. There is both outdoor and indoor seating available. I guess there is a rooftop seating too available. It is more like a house converted setup. The ambience is pretty good, and it should look good at night when all the lights are lit up. They also have a separate small section outside dedicated for preparing teas. So one can have a quick tea from outside itself without needing to go inside. Unfortunately, most of the items under the tea section were unavailable when we visited, and they only had black tea and lemon tea. Parking space is tiny, and they don't have a dedicated space for car parking. One needs to park one's vehicle on the roadside near this eatery, and hardly a couple of cars can be parked simultaneously.
Customer Service:
The customer service was good. The staff was courteous, pleasant, and attentive. Service was fast. I got the items delivered to the table within a short time.
Food and Drinks:
I tried their Fish biriyani, Fish Fingers and Lemon tea. I came around here at 4 pm , and biriyani was available as it was prepared as part of lunch. I ordered one plate, biriyani. The accompaniments provided were raitha and one small piece of lemon pickle in a separate bowl. There were two medium fish pieces. The biriyani was cold, as it was a leftover from the lunch. The fish meat was tough and unchewable. Initially, I thought the fish was undercooked because it was not fried. Biriyani is made by combining rice and fish masala. It is normally expected to have either a seer fish or kingfish for fish biriyani, but the fish they have used is Ola Kodiyan/ Sail Fish. Its a massive and a red meat fish, which accounts for the toughness of the meat. I felt disappointed with their Fish Biriyani as I had it after years.
The fish fingers were quite good, and they were served with mayonnaise. Eleven pieces of small fish fingers were served on a single plate. The flavour was good.
Lemon tea was also pleasant, and it served as a good refresher.
Price:
Fish Biriyani - Rs160 Fish Fingers - Rs 380 Lemon Tea - Rs 10
The prices are standard, though they can be a little higher if you order their starters, Al-fahams, or grilled items. They accept either normal cash or UPI payment. There is no card payment system available presently.

Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Fish bites in Thrissur, and I must say, it was a delightful experience. What sets this place apart is the combination of affordability and the delectable food they offer.
The first thing that caught my attention was the budget-friendly pricing of this restaurant. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive throughout my visit.
However, the highlight of my dining experience was the food. The restaurant's seafood options were a standout – fresh, flavorful, and expertly prepared. I couldn't get enough of the mouthwatering seafood dishes.
In a world where great food and affordability rarely come together, Fish bites breaks the norm. It's a place that proves that you don't have to spend a fortune to enjoy fantastic meals. If you're in Thrissur and looking for an affordable restaurant with amazing food, I highly recommend Fish bites. It's a hidden gem that deserves more...
