Open Kitchen: A Refreshing Pit Stop
Our recent visit to Open Kitchen left us delightful
Variety of Cuisines:Open Kitchen offers a diverse menu, including continental, Indian, and Chinese dishes. This variety caters to different tastes.
Facilities and Amenities:
The EV charging station powered by Go Ec is a thoughtful addition for travelers.
As an ideal pit stop for long journeys, it provides a clean washroom and kid-friendly amenities (cradles, toddler seats, and feeding rooms).
Ambiance:
The restaurant’s different seating styles – both indoors and outdoors – allow guests to choose their preferred setting.
The cooperative and attentive staff took good care of us.
Overall Impression:
While the food could be improved (this doesn't mean the food is bad), the way they treat visitors compensates for it.
For travelers seeking comfort during their journey, Open Kitchen remains a reliable choice.
Language Barrier:
One challenge we noticed was that most of the staff are from North India.
Elderly visitors who aren’t well-versed in Hindi may face communication issues.
Food :
The Pothichoru remained excellent – flavorful and satisfying.
However, the Biryani was a bit of a letdown. It had an abundance of masala but lacked sufficient rice.
The fruit salad, unfortunately, fell short in terms of quantity.
Additionally, considering the variety of dishes we ordered, the bill of just below 1800 seems quite reasonable for a group of five. Let’s break down the items:
Pothichoru (3 servings): These flavorful parcels of goodness are a highlight, and it’s great that you enjoyed them.
Egg Fried Rice: A classic choice, and it’s tasty too.
Chicken Biryani: Despite the masala-to-rice ratio issue, it’s a staple favorite for many, but we were an exception.
Chicken Clear Soup: A light and comforting option, especially during a journey.
Lime Soda (2 servings): A refreshing choice to beat the heat.
Cold Coffee: Perfect for a pick-me-up.
Watermelon Juice: A hydrating and delicious drink.
Fruit Salad (2 servings, without ice cream): While the quantity could be improved, it’s still a healthy choice.
In summary, Open Kitchen serves as a convenient and welcoming stop, but a few tweaks could elevate the experience...
Read moreOpen Kitchen is one of the best restaurants that one can ever find in the most serene spot in Kuttikkaanam. The food here is indeed praise-worthy and deserves a 5-star rating. However, the service here is not up to the mark. We have visited this restaurant for over 5 times and we have noticed every time that it takes at least an hour to serve us the food.
Recently, I had visited this place and I had an awful experience with the staff here. I had ordered for a family of 6 along with a Pothichor as mentioned in their menu. Later did we realize that the Pothichor was not cooked in Open Kitchen, but was instead ordered from another restaurant. If they didn't have that dish, they could have mentioned that the dish wasn't available. We even had to cancel that dish because if the huge time delay. They didn't have to lie. Moreover it took more than an hour to receive the food. We had old members in the family who require to eat on time for their health. This experience ruined their balance and they were sick for a week.
Sometime later, we had asked our server how long it would take to get a fresh juice. The server replied it would take some time as there were other orders to deliver. Dissatisfied with the assigned server, we asked another server for the juice and he delivered his order within just 10 minutes.
We expect a bit more professional staff from a multicuisine restaurant like this. I hope they can improve this aspect soon in the future.

Read moreLet me start by saying: if you're planning to eat at Open Kitchen, do yourself a favor and just don't. Unless, of course, you're into oily, tasteless, lukewarm regret served on a plate — then this is your paradise.
Yes, the ambience is nice. Beautiful lighting, cozy decor… it sets the perfect mood for the disaster that’s about to unfold on your table.
The food? Where do I begin? Every single dish tasted like it was deep-fried in reused engine oil, then left out to die a slow, cold death. The curries were swimming in oil. The starters were dry, chewy, and flavorless — like cardboard dipped in grease. Even the rice managed to be both soggy and burnt, which is honestly impressive in the worst way possible.
The "live kitchen" idea? Sounds fancy — until you watch a bored chef toss half-cooked ingredients around with zero hygiene or interest, and serve it like it’s a punishment.
And let’s not forget dessert: stale cakes, frozen-in-the-middle pastries, and jelly that bounced like rubber. Yes, that happened.
Service? What service? We practically had to wave like we were stranded on an island to get anyone’s attention. When we complained about the food, they nodded like it was just another Tuesday.
To sum it up: ✔️ Ambience: Great. ❌ Food: Horrible. ❌ Taste: Nonexistent. ❌ Hygiene: Suspicious. ❌ Value: Absolutely not. ❌ Regret level: Maximum.
Final verdict: If you're hungry, go anywhere else. If you’re not hungry, come here — because after one bite, you definitely won’t be but the...
