The Orb Restobar — Restaurant in Kerala

With Kochi's restobar scene booming, finding a gem is a challenge. The Orb, recently hyped by Eat Kochi Eat, piqued our curiosity. We visited on a Wednesday, finding the place surprisingly quiet, though I suspect weekends are livelier.

The Orb boasts a spacious interior, a notable plus. The space-themed decor, complete with disco lighting on the ceiling, creates a unique ambiance. The bar is well-designed, with eye-catching lighting and bottle displays. An amateur live unplugged performance provided entertainment, though the volume became a bit grating after a while.

The kitchen, managed by Mash, unfortunately, didn't quite live up to expectations. The menu, while promising, lacked the depth of Mayabay. As the current menu is a pre-launch one, Tandoor items were unavailable, so we opted for triple French fries beef, mirchi grilled paneer, and BBQ chicken wings. The French fries, a Mayabay staple, fell short of the mark. Our second round, beef dry fry and chili paneer, yielded mixed results; the paneer was commendable, but the beef was just average. But, it was informed to us that they are gonna relaunch the revised full packed menu soon.

Drink offers enticed us, leading to a Corona bucket and a Mystique Queen cocktail. Disappointingly, my initial cocktail choices were unavailable despite being listed, a definite letdown. The Mystique Queen was acceptable, followed by a standard VAT 69.

The rooftop smoking area and pool table are nice additions.

While The Orb delivers on the "big" promise seen in their promotional reels, the food menu needs significant refinement. The spacious dance floor, a rarity in Kochi's restobars (even Watsons' is underwhelming), is a major plus. However, to truly stand out, The Orb needs to elevate its culinary offerings to match its impressive space...

The food was deliciously prepared and beautifully presented.The cocktails were crafted with care — refreshing, balanced, and served with a smile.

The staff deserves special mention — friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, they made the entire experience even better. Music and lighting were spot-on, setting a great mood without being overpowering.
