Read moreA date with biriyani at Aminia Behala :
Being born and brought up in New Alipore , Aminia Behala has always played an important role to satisfy my biryani craving . Located beside Ajanta cinema hall which is about 5 minutes walk from taratala this outlet is as big as the others all across kolkata and it's outskirts and serves delicious mughlai cuisine for which they are well known.
Being a well established delivery serving joint , Aminia has always maintained its quality of food , hygeine at the restaurants , service . It has continued serving us with some amazing kebabs and biryanis . Most of us have a very detailed idea about their food so without further delay let's get straight to the food that i had from this perticular outlet of Aminia. As you can see we were served droolworthy dishes ,a detailed review is written below .
•Mutton Galawti Kebab -A smoked patty prepared using lamb/goat that includes onion, garlic, ginger, saffron and spices usually so soft that melts in your mouth .Here the kebabs were little stiffer than usual and were served over mini paranthe
• Mutton Burrah Kebab - Mutton piesces marinated in a variety of spices and cooked on tandoor. It has a smokey flavour .This kebab was hard and little undercooked as well. I am not a fan of kebabs with bones hence people like me can avoid this one.
• Chicken Tangri Kebab - one of the most popular and most loved kebabs , chicken leg pieces marinated with spices and cooked in tandoor .
• Chicken Reshmi and tikka kebab - To make the reshmi kebabs , boneless chicken pieces are marinated with lots of curd and grilled in the tandoor . Whitish in colour ,non spicy yet delicious in taste.
On the other hand tikka kebabs have similar pieces of chicken marinated with tikka masala and other spices . When they are taken out from the grill they turn reddish in colour and have a distinct flavour than the reshmi kebabs and generally both these kebabs are served with green chutney made of coriander and mint .
• Mutton Special Biryani - people usually go to aminia for their biriyani and they never disappoint whether it be quality or quantity . One plate of mutton biriyani contains one large soft piece of mutton , one whole perfectly cooked potato (we the people of Bengal only know the importance of potato in biriyani ) one egg and rice anough for one person. Justifies its price to the fullest .
• Lahori Chicken -One of the dish i loved here and will reorder if i am at any branch of Aminia. Soft and succulent chicken pieces with bones prepared in a spicy and rich curry , one can have it with naan, lachha paranthe or can pair it with any biriyani. Being a lover of spicy food i thoroughly enjoyed the dish .
• Aminia Special Mutton Curry - Signature dish of the place .This dish consists of a whole onion, tomato, egg, potato, spices and two pieces of mutton with bones .
• Mutton tawa masala : Diced boneless mutton served in a deep red gravy piping hot. A pretty oily dish but full of flavours . Should be consumed with any type of Indian bread or even with biryani
• Mihidana with rabdi : Two traditional Indian desserts together. The former made of flour dipped in sugar syrup and the other made of milk and sugar. Both of them combined together to form something amazing
But i was their mainly for their biriyani and tawa mutton accompanied with it was enough to...
Read moreWanted to visit this restaurant from a long time and finally that happened. A friend decided to throw his birthday treat in Aminia. I had a lot of expectations going in because of its reputation. This restaurant is very easy to find, located on diamond harbour Road just after Behala pathakpara. On entering I was taken aback by how beautifully the place is designed. Very spacious and lovely ambience. The different table partitions were made of beautifully decorated glass paintings. The only thing that could have been arranged was a little slow music. The ACs worked fine. I'll be reviewing the dishes one by one. Fish seekh kebab - Well prepared with the right amount of spices. Had nothing to complain. You could actually feel the fish while chewing which was good. Chicken tandoori - I loved this dish. The chicken was very tender and tasted very nice. A must have if u visit here. Peas polau - Very light with green Peas. Just what you would get in every other restaurant. Fish Tikka Masala - Now this dish was a disaster. We ordered this because one of our friend does not eat chicken or mutton and this was the only fish item they had on the menu. The first bite would literally make u cry as it was so spicy. I do not know what fish was given or how the dish was prepared as nothing tasted of fish. Special mutton biriyani- biriyani was quite good. The potatoes and mutton were quite soft and the amount was more than enough. An advice if u order special biriyani then it is enough for two persons. But as far as the reputation go I was expecting a lot more from their biriyani. I have had much better biriyani in other restaurants. Murg Musallam - This was supposed to be the highlight for our lunch. This was ordered by my friend a day before and we were in so much anticipation as how the dish would turn out. After it was delivered to our table it looked yummy with all the gravy, butter and cashew garnished on top. But when we took a bite all hopes went down the drain. It tasted so bland. The spices nor the gravy had gone inside the chicken. More or less it tasted like simply boiled chicken. At the end we had fresh lime soda and mango firni which was quite good. As for my opinion it was an ordinary experience and maybe will not visit until I hear good reviews...
